On the 18th-20th of December the last major international LoL event and the last IEM of the year takes place. Compared to IEM San Jose, this event feels a lot more exciting, with a plethora of roster changes for 4 of the attending teams, a surprise team that took an upset win at the KeSPA Cup and and a Chinese team that we haven't seen since the Chinese regionals.

I definitely feel that the new rosters of FNC and H2k are going to be some of the highlights of the tournament. Both teams added 3 new players, with Forg1ven, Vander, Jankos and Spirit standing out as the biggest highlights in terms of changes. If both teams can work together they are contenders. If they can't they'll most likely not perform. FNC has had 2 Koreans before, so I don't think there should be any massive problems having them fit with the team. And, it has been over a year since Spirit last played on a good team. H2k got somewhat of a super team, with some of the strongest players in Europe.

Dig and C9 are in my opinion the weaker teams. Dig were clearly the weakest, and with 1 sub on their team I'm not sure they even stand a chance. C9, in contrast, do stand a good chance of making it past H2k, especially if the team hasn't come together yet. With Rush and Hai on their team I do think they're strong, just a fully working H2k sounds stronger.

Ever is probably the biggest surprise of all teams to attend, with them beating both SKT and CJ to get their spot. I'm actually glad they did, because that means that SKT can't come and stomp everybody into oblivion. That doesn't mean that Ever lacks talent, because beating CJ 3-0 isn't a bad feat by any means.

QG might be my favorite team coming into the tournament, and I really had hoped for them to make Worlds. But now they're back, and the last time they played was during the regionals where they lost to IG for the 3rd Chinese seed. Their roster is the same, and the patch could potentially favor they big time. A QG vs FNC semifinal is to be expected, and that might be my favorite match of the tournament.

Between FNC, H2k, QG and Ever I do think that all teams have a shot at winning the tournament. C9 aren't bad, but I simply can't think that they will take it. Dig clearly is the only team who really doesn't stand a chance to even win their first match.

I personally predict either FNC or QG to take it, but it's still very close between all of the teams mentioned above. Who do you think will win? Which teams looks like the most exciting to watch? Will there be any upsets?

Fnatic is gutted x.x I don't expect them to take one game off any team there. Let's be realistic for once with FNC, they lost all of their star players and their main shot caller. They aren't winning one game, even against DIG.

They probably won't be amazing but saying they lost all their stars is incorrect as Febiven exists.

This is true to a degree, because when we look at it when considering Huni whom required a lot of attention in the top lane. No matter who the enemy Jungler chose to gank in this situation, this creates advantages that either Huni, or Febiven can take advantage of. It's a win/win situation for Fnatic either way. When we look at Feb/Faker 1v1 where Feb won that match up. Faker was on a style of mid-laner he wasn't known for. Now that Febiven has to stand up as a solo carry, I don't think he'll be able to do it. I might be proven wrong, but I think YellowStaR is to Fnatic that Hai is to Cloud 9.

If you badmouth my boys in Dignitas you're getting coal for Christmas.

Time will tell whether Feb can do his thing without Yellow's macro but even in LCS and games not against Faker he seemed like a really strong mid laner. He had to be in games where Huni went tilttilttilt because Rekkles was always more of a utility ADC than the main hard carry (hence his use of Kennen so much at the end there).

Anywhos, I am looking forward to watching this like a week after it happens :) I don't get any day off until Christmas :D Love me that UPS (it's more of a love-hate but whatevs). Good luck C9!

In only a little more than 2 hours IEM Cologne kicks off with Team Dignitas taking on Qiao Gu Reapers, followed by Cloud 9 taking on H2k. I'm definitely placing my bets on QG in the first match. Not quite sure about the 2nd match, as it comes down to raw talent vs synergy.
