It pains my soul that this guy is the most powerful man in the world.
I'm sure you can imagine how those of us who didn't vote for him feel.

And now we should all think about how much the democrats had to **** up to let this guy become president.
American politics are amazing.

According to statistics, Trump was known by around 86 % of the Americans while Clinton was only known by 76 % of Americans when they began competing. This is due to the fact, that Trump had been on television multiple times. Trump also appeals to the majority of Americans because he has these morals that contradict with what he is running (freedom of speech, freedom of religion etc.). Clinton, on the other hand, was in the midst of multiple scandals and they saw Trump as the only real choice as he was the only one who was mostly independent and he wasn't a "corrupt politician". Ted Cruz was a better choice because he seems smart and he gets along with people better than Trump does.

Also, Clinton still received more votes (around 3 million), it's the system that screwed the people who lived in bigger states.

I love Bernie.

The people who ran for the Green party or whatever were also garbage. Stein, for example, is a physician who believes that there is significant evidence that shows that it is possible that vaccines cause autism.

Trump's in the middle of a frickin' child rape scandal (the statute of limitations is out though and she can't pursue a criminal trial afaik), but, for some reason, no one cares about that. Clinton isn't the only one with scandals, it's just that people put their fingers in their ears and ignored Trump's while blabbering on about how Clinton was part of a child sex ring where they drunk the blood of infants for eternal youth all under the guise of a pizza parlor or something (I know people who actually believed that was true).

EDIT: It also doesn't matter if Stein is an idiot because she had no chance of being elected. Voting for the Green Party is generally a wasted vote because no one seems to want to go out and vote for them on non-presidential election years and actually get them into a position where they are a legitimate option.

It is not just happening in the USA, it is happening everywhere in Europe too. Front National, brexit, AfD are all different sides of the same picture, right-wing-parties becoming more relevant due to fear and hatred they spread. People are afraid, and it is easier to just increase their fear than to develop solutions.

Is that the overall percentage of americans or only the percentage of americans who are allowed to vote? Also the keyword here is "when they began competing because it means that the statistics are out of date(I obviously can't be sure about that one since I you didn't provide a source).

I think we can all agree that if either party would have nominated anyone else it would have been a landslide. Also, if I recall correctly, Cruz was more extreme than Trump in most positions, so I would not really call him a better choice from your point of view unless you want to say that the republicans would have had even better chances with him than with trump.

The system is ********, but it is the system they had to work with. If it was based on popular vote, all the candidates would have campaigned in a completly different way. Because of that, I maintain my opinion that Trump's victory was the correct result(unless there was tampering with voting machines or a miscount or something like that).

I think that if the democrats were to learn one thing from this election, it should be that it isn't really a great idea to call roughly half the voters racist if you want to get elected to president. Actually debating them would be a much better idea.

I have no idea why they could not realise that themselves and have absolutely no sympathy for the democrat party. If you are that distanced from the voterbase, you deserve president Trump.

I really don't like calling voting for the candidate whose position is most aligned with your own a wasted vote. The fact that the american system only has two relevant parties is a huge problem which could be solved if people started voting for what they believe in instead of thinking about wheter their vote is wasted or not.

This has nothing to do with "the democratic party" though. It's about all people of the US and to a certain extend of the whole world.

The people ****ed up. They should've chosen a different president. That's the most voiced opinion here at least.

I totally agree that they should revise their voting system by the way.

@ mastrer1000: If people want a third party to be a legitimate option, they need to start voting for it in other election years and getting it into offices at a lower level so it can actually establish a real base. They aren't usually willing to do that though, so in 90% of cases it ends up, indeed, being a vote that just doesn't accomplish anything. The system is broken, yes, so one has to actually play the game if they want to win it.

President Trump is probably the best thing to happen to this country in 8 years. We've needed a kick in the *** for a while now, and having a token black man representing us wasn't helping. Now we have someone who knows how to run a business in charge, and we can begin paying off our debt while also signaling to the world that the US means business. We've already pulled out of the TPP, and have begun aggressive attacks onto ISIS. The world will understand that, unlike what Merkel and the rest of the EU want you to believe, the US is top dog an its either our way or the high way.

I don't blame the people for this. The demcrats should never have let hillary run, no matter if all the scandals are true or not, because she is way too controversial. The fact that they did anyway shows that they believe(d) that people will vote for them no matter which candidate they put to the vote.
My opinion here is pretty much the same as my opinion about "wasted votes", I will not blame people for voting what they believe in(or in this case voting against what they don't beleieve in).

@ The_Nameless_Bard : I don't really know enough about the american elections of anything other than the president to have have an educated opinion, but if not enough people vote in those, it is obviously a problem that needs to be fixed.
