I'm going in a family trip to Europe this september and I really don't know where to start looking for stuff to do.

We have already booked flights to and from Madrid with two weeks to do stuff in between. We're mostly aiming for Barcelona and Paris-London-Brujas, but everything in between is not very clear.

Can anyone help me with options? I'm looking for museums, good beer and maybe some tech nerdy stuff.

Don't know if you're into sports but September is usually the start of football season in many countries. So going to watch some football games is usually really hype during these times. Definitely recommended!

If you're going to London, British Museum is a must if that's your thing, but I guess that's already on your list. We found the London Dungeon pretty enjoyable but that's a bit of a guilty pleasure I suppose.

There's a really good escape room in Berlin: http://www.the-room-berlin.com/en/the-room (I tried the first two rooms, both were great). You might find Germany to be a nice spot to drop by for the Oktoberfest as well (which starts in like the middle of September apparently) seeing you mentioned beer ^^

Rome is amazing if you like its ancient society. Forum Romanum, museums, stuff like that. Also wonderful architecture (mostly churches). Also the Vatican if that's your thing. Some people like Pompeii.

BUT I suppose those locations are completely off track for your plans so I'm not sure how useful this is ^^;

Haven't been to Madrid. Must've been to Brugge once but it doesn't ring any bells. To be honest I can't really relate to the urge to go there lol. Are you planning to take a boat to England there? There's a good connection from Calais (France) as well.
********'s a pretty good fertilizer

Vienna's Tech Museum is the best one I've ever gone to, and it's free if you're <18, only €10 otherwise. That is ****in eons from Barcelona though so nevermind haha.

When I was in Barcelona I went to the Aquarium there which is supposedly one of the best in Europe, but I wouldn't recommend going there honestly unless you really want to see some sharks. It was just kinda plain, and I think it was kinda expensive, at least for what you get when you go in.

Salvador Dali's Museum (https://www.salvador-dali.org/en/museums/dali-theatre-museum-in-figueres/) isn't in Barcelona but it's sort of nearby and if you have a chance, I definitely recommend this place 100%. It was really beautiful, lots of amazing paintings, sculptures, murals etc. And there's a really nice shop too.

You can go to Gent, nice cozy city that is known for hanging people way back. It is really close to Brujas so you can enjoy a beer and walk around through the city seeing nice statues and maybe the occasional museum.

I assume you are not going by plane within Europe so I will give some more tips for when you are on your way to Paris; there is a nuclear fusion reactor in southern France (close to Nice)! It might not be guaranteed you can get a tour (I was lucky since when I went we were with someone from the inside), but then you can at least enjoy the wisdom that you know where it is. If you are not able to get in you can at least go to the Park Camargue where they have big salt farms which you can see from closer. Other than that there is nice nature and nice cities in the neighbourhood.

There are also solar towers between Madrid and Barcelona which are absolutely gorgeous to see, make sure you make pictures when on the road!

Funnily enough I do not know much about southern UK so I cannot say much about it. I do know more about north UK, Belgium and the Netherlands if you are interested to make some more detours :D
Change is gooooood

We considered it but we're not too much into european football. Maybe if there's some interesting match or a stadium that's a must see we'll go.

Yes, British Museum is a must. Not sure about the London Dungeon, but it's a good option to have in mind.

The escape room sounds good but Berlin is probably a bit too off-tracks. We're thinking going somewhere closer to the Netherlands/Belgium so we're aiming for Cologne (Köln?) right now. And thanks for the reminder on Oktoberfest, I always wanted to go ^^ Is it something like a country-wide celebration? Or should I go to specific cities?

Rome is amazing if you like its ancient society. Forum Romanum, museums, stuff like that. Also wonderful architecture (mostly churches). Also the Vatican if that's your thing. Some people like Pompeii.

Yeah, we wanted to go to Rome but we prioritized Paris-London-Netherlands.

Haven't been to Madrid. Must've been to Brugge once but it doesn't ring any bells. To be honest I can't really relate to the urge to go there lol. Are you planning to take a boat to England there? There's a good connection from Calais (France) as well.
Aparently Bruge is hyped up by tourists for some reason. My mom said we should go and the two people I know who went to the Netherlands said it's the city they liked the most.

Personally I want to take the underground tunnel from France to Britain, just to say I did it. If we go back from London after that we may look for a boat.

Unfortunately Vienna is a bit off tracks and we're reconsidering Barcelona :(

The Dali museum looks great, I really want to go. It's not too off tracks so I'll see if it can be pulled off ^^

It'll probably be on the road after Bruge so I'll have it in mind, thanks!

Yeah, we're figuring out how to move within Europe, but either renting a car or moving in bus/train are our current options. Visiting a nuclear reactor would be cool, I'll have it in mind. I'm sure there's a LoL joke about the salt farms somewhere in there :P

Yesss, I'll be sure to take a ton of pictures :D

Thanks again! I might post an update once I have a more defined path ^^
