The first build in the guide is always made to fit the meta and the runes present. The rest are situational and show meta builds that existed at some point in the years and that might cone back at some point in the future, if you are not sure about what to get or how ti mix and match then I suggest the first build that i list.

Hey, thank you very much for the awesome guide. Xin Zhao has always been the champion I have the highest win rate on in the jungle, and the most fun for me to play. I wanted to see if I am going with the most optimal build and paths and your guide has helped me ! (turns out I was doing pretty good :) ) Thank you for the valuable information, it will be put to good use by many !

In other people's playstyles, they allocate less time to farming and more time to ganking. This is probably the reason why they go phase rush and max e second. Maxing e allows for a faster knockup and phase rush makes catching people during ganking easier and is better for guaranteeing the success of a gank.

I think it depends on your own playstyle. If you are more the gank player you take Phase Rush, but if you like to farm more rather than ganking the lanes then you would go PTA.

Will you ever come back to LoL?

HAMMERSLAYER (13) | November 7, 2018 3:28am
I highly doupt it, i started LoL back then i was at junior highschool and i had nothing better to do and plenty of time, now my time starts to get more and more limited and and the little time i have left to play games i prefer to spend it on something more worthwhile honestly...

Try the builds on the top of the first page of the guide, those are the ones that get regularly updated, aka, first 1-2 builds.

These builds are all tested with the ability rework? I think with the rework raw attack speed and raw AD are needed as base damages are low, so The Black Cleaver seems like a wasted slot - Trinity Force is probably always going to be better as your Phage item.

Also the armor / MR chart you posted is BS, the mathematics is wrong. Example: 60% damage reduction is 25% better than 50% damage reduction. Not 10% better. Explanation: If the enemy does 1000 damage before resistances, then you take 400 damage with 60% damage reduction, instead of 500 damage if you had 50% damage reduction. Taking 400 damage is 25% better than taking 500 damage because the enemy would need to have 25% higher damage to deal the same 500 damage to you.

(For similar reasons, damage reductions from Red Smite / Phantom Dancer / Ninja Tabi / abilities like Master Yi's W stack much more strongly than most people understand. This makes Red Smite + Ninja Tabi a great pairing.)

From 400 to 500 reduced damage from a total of 1000 damage the difference is 10% and the chart shows how armor and magic resist are counted in-game, the chart is accurate and fully applicable in-game. Any of the builds i provide works but i do highlight which ones are the best to use, thats why i have the current 7.19 build i use on the top of the first page and the previous build variations that used (or still rarely use) down below. Red Smite does true damage so it can't get reduced ever by anything. Phantom Dancer and other items and abilities that reduce % damage get applied after the resistance's damage reduction. The mathematics are as right as they can be. Before the rework the past build with Botrk and Cleaver was better by a longshot, only now after the rework Trinity is a better choice and thats only because of its RAW stats not for its effects, thats also the reason why Xin Zhao is more team oriented after the 7.19 patch.

Please re-read what I wrote, I have politely explained why the logic/mathematics in that table, in the 4 columns headed 'Delta' 'Avg Delta' 'Delta Change' and '% points per unit' is wrong - basically the whole Delta concept is wrong. You saying "the mathematics are as right as they can be" adds nothing to the debate. The table is grading armor and MR efficiency incorrectly, the efficiency does not fall off so fast as the table suggests because the 'Delta' comparison is flawed. (If the table is correct, then Rammus and Malphite would be pointless champions and full tank builds on tanks would be pointless.)

You also have not understood what I meant about Red Smite. The key aspect of red smite is that it gives you 20% damage reduction from your enemy. This stacks excellently with other damage reduction e.g. 10% reduction on basic attacks from Ninja Tabi, due to simple mathematics. The effect of having two different damage reductions is multiplicative / both are amplified. For example with both Red Smite and Ninja Tabi, against a basic attacking enemy, the enemy would need to have 42.8% higher damage to kill you compared with the position if you had other boots, the same +30 armor from 2 x Cloth Armor, and Blue Smite. I am simply commenting that the stacking of % damage reductions is a similar area where many players and guides do not correctly understand the mathematics, 42.8% is a huge difference.

BTW from this, the conclusion is that the advice in your guide - e.g. that Xin should normally prefer a Ninja Tabi + Red Smite combo to ensure he wins his 1 v 1 battles, is good advice, of course depending on enemy team composition.
