EXCELLENT resource not only for her but all ADC's MF's my fav.
Really tough because I am learning EVERYTHING from scratch. The better the explanation the more thoroughly I understand their functionality to begin practicing with them rather than fudging around w/my own ideas for an hour.
Thank you for the in depth insight into Kalista as well as the very helpful adc tips
Thanks!
I read your guide to begin my journey as a marksman main(not this one), and it has been helpful, I appreciate it very much.
However, I would like to raise the same concern as the other person had done in the comment section, you would need to put in more specific information about this champion that your guide is directed at. Your guides all look the same and it basically has the large chunk copied and pasted over, about laning, hitting lv2, who to aim... etc. These information are of course useful, but besides these we would all want to read more specific stuff, like how to play against a certain champion, when is your power spike, how you should perform in certain situations etc...
Of course all ADC guides will appear similar, because they are the champions of the same role. However, people came into this guide to read about Kalista rather than ADCs as a whole. Giving general information about ADCs would not be as helpful as giving specific tips and playstyle about this champion. Many of us are people who played other ADCs and looking forward to pick up Kalista, then this guide is next to useless to us, because it has been saying the same things that we already knew.
I do not mean to disrespect your effort, but this is really lackluster in my opinion. You did not explain your item build and masteries, you did not elaborate enough on her skills. Given Kalista's unique mechanism in attack moving, we would expect a lot more than what we are seeing.
Sorry if this seems critical, but I would really love to see better content from you.
The thing is, this is a mechanical skill, I can't teach you how to do this. When I learnt how to attack move and orb walk, it wasn't something I could read about to learn, it was just something I had to practice over and over and over until it eventually became passable and then later on very good.
The only unique Kalista mechanics I can think of that you might actually need explaining to if you're a newbie explain are:
1. Harassing with auto-attacks then last-hitting a minion with E so you get E off on your enemy without losing the CD or any mana.
2. You can buffer your Q mid-jump to immediately Q when you finish your jump and then immediately enter another jump (this should be kinda intuitive though once you actually play the champion).
The rest is a case of just learning to execute it probably, but you need to play the champion for that, not read a guide about it. All I can teach you in a guide is the macro side of Kalista, which is almost the same macro part of any ADC. There's no mechanics that need explaining, she has no combos, no unique interactions with her spells, no need to learn what X spell can do and what it can't; it does what it says it does, and you just have to learn to execute that properly.
In my
I don't like doing matchup chapters because in the end it's really very simple to explain how they go. Good matchup? Play aggressively, push up and try to get tower damage if possible, force trades. Bad matchup? Avoid trades, let the enemy push you under tower and try to safely last-hit there.
Not to mention it's hard to exactly explain what is and isn't a good matchup because supports influence the equation too; and if I were to try and explain how supports influence matchups, that's just yet another chapter of copy and pasting onto each of my ADC guides that you just criticised me for.
Aside from that as well, player skill is also a factor. As
Individual champion kits are also really self explanatory as to how to deal with them if you know what the champion does. Sivir has a skillshot? Dodge it. Sivir has a spell shield? Try to wait it out or wait for her to waste it before using
When I used to write matchups in the past in my guides I just ended up feeling like it was a waste of time and that everything I was explaining was just common sense that anyone would know if they knew what the enemy champion did. "Dodge Anivia Q or her E does a lot of damage". "Don't get baited by her passive". "Ziggs has a low CD skillshot, try to dodge it". Etc. The most use I found for them was just to explain what was generally considered a good matchup and a bad matchup, but like I already explained even that goes out the window if player skills make up for it; and you don't need to me to tell you what a bad matchup is to play defensively when you're getting your *** kicked, or play aggressively when your kicking the opposing laner's ***.
My guides could definitely have more information in them, since like I said I never claimed they're as in-depth as an ADC guide could possibly be, but I do believe they include all the most important information in them, this guide being no exception.
