Hello! Aery is less great on now, as his poke is less guaranteed and less often. It's not that it wouldn't work, I just think that , , (or even now, it looks like) will be always be better.

What would the 'Sustain-EON' (onhit-sustain) runes be used for which champions?

Hey there! That build is highly experimental, but I believe it will be the best build going forward for Pantheon after his rework. Currently, it's best used when facing an opponent with low DPS, some sustain, are melee, or have poke. A few examples of this could be Cho'gath, Tahm Kench, Malphite, Fiora. The idea is to use your Q to stack , then walk up and start autoing the enemy. You won't be able to blow up enemy carries like a Lethality build allows you to do, but it will be very hard for anyone to 1v1 you in a sidelane. Hope this helps, and good luck on the Rift!

Awesome, thanks for the insight. One more thing I want to ask, you don't have Mordekaiser in your list of matchups and I want to know how to face that chamption using Pantheon.

Yeah, sorry about that. I've been procrastinating updating the guide at all recently because I knew there would be a ton of work once the impending rework was announced. I've played a limited amount of of into the new Morde, so take that into account here too.

You probably want to go here, since you will absolutely lose extended trades due to his passive. Wait for him to shove you in, as he has no escapes and can be killed easily if your jungler ganks level 3. The safest time to engage with W is when his E is down, or at the very least right after he uses his Q. If he has all abilities up and you jump in, you'll probably get cut down by his passive trying to run away. At some point you just won't be able to kill him due to his W and his stacking health, so try and get a few early kills then roam. If he snags you With R, you can still use to be invulnerable for a few seconds during his ult.

I wouldn't suggest picking into a Morde, but hopefully this helps if you get stuck in this matchup. Good luck on the Rift!

P.S. Death Grasp (Mord's W) cancels Panth's ult which sucks so I just hope the player already used it after their ult but before mine!

I just wanted to say that I was looking to try out Pantheon and found your guide! It is so in depth and amazing of all the information it carries. It even made me laugh a few times in the mindset section xD. Also saw that you respond to people who comment on here and thought that was just absolutely amazing. Hey, I don't play myself, but every time I see this guide it just blows my mind. The combination of beautiful visuals and in-depth information is just insane. I think I can safely say this guide is an inspiration for every guide writer. At least for me it is.

Any thoughts on jungle? He heavily relies on ganking, but since the scuttle crab spawn being delayed, I rarely see him in the jungle.

Hey there! That's very kind of you to say :) I don't have a ton of experience with jungle, especially not this season, so I might not be the best person to answer this question. However, the ones I have seen try to cheese gank immobile lanes after getting a buff or two. If you can kill mid or top right before the scuttle spawns, you can take them for free because your lane can come help you while the enemy jungler's lane can't. I think Panth jungle works in specific situations (low mobility enemies), but is not extremely strong currently as AP junglers seem to be making a comeback.

Thanks for your answer! It confirmed what I thought. I hope the rework gives him the ability to farm the jungle so he can also be played as a normal jungler, not as a cheesy pick.

I used to play Pantheon so many years ago, and i wanted to play it again, your guide is really complete, it helped me alot to understand all the matchups, but i still can't imagine myself playing without Electrocute xD Great guide btw :D

Great guide, as i have played alot of pantheon myself, i would reccomend to also try these runes if you have some mana problems: sumommon aery, with manaflow band, absolute focus, gathering storm, then take precision with triumph and coup de grace. The summon aery also help with real early damage, since you dont have to use 3 spells to activate it. manaflow will increase you mana every time you get early kills, it will also help you stay in lane if you need to. then absolute focus, when you poke enemies in the early game it helps with damage, and then gathering storm will make your lategame not that hard, since you got more damage (combine with black cleaver and the armor is easy to get past). Triumph and coup de grace is self explanatory.
I like these runes more since they help at the start, and are not useless mid to late game. I would reccomend to try them and see if you like it, but i understand it is not for everyone though

Hey there! Glad you liked my guide :D I used to have Aery as the seccond recommended runepage, but eventually I decided that Aftershock was better. My main reasoning is that Aery is not so great outside of lane; in teamfights, you're really only getting one or two procs off of it. Aftershock lets you engage in teamfights and survive much longer, while still giving the benefits of a Sorcery secondary tree (Manaflow, 10% CDR etc).

aery is good for splitpushing as well, and if your team need help you always (hopefully) got your ult ready. As you will most likely only have to do a 1v1 during your push

Started playing toplane about a month ago, transitioned from Jungler/Support and this guide helped a lot with Pantheon but also the safe zones and warding around toplane. Huge thanks, great indepth guide, good luck this season!

I really love your guide, I'm an avid Pantheon main myself. How do you feel about the new runes? I'm rather fond of using the Predator keystone on Pantheon myself since I like to build him with high mobility. Youmuu's, BC, Mobi Boots, DMP, Maw and some 6th item, I often find myself having to chase down enemies or peeling allies so the crazy MS helps. I find it useful as the new Predator keystone acts like an early Youmuu only it's more speed and lets any ability deal extra adaptive damage. The 700 MS from Predator, Mobis, DMP and Youmuu is just great imo.

I'm actually testing the new runes as we speak. I don't have a PBE account, so this is the first time I've played with them. I assumed that Electrocute will be the go to, as it is good with Pantheon's combo and gives other good runes in the game tree, but I'm not completely sure!

From what I understand, Predator has a really long cooldown which may mean it isn't great overall for Pantheon. Haven't tried it yet though, and what you are saying makes sense, so I'll give it a go! I've updated the guide with Electrocute currently, but make sure to check back as pre-season progresses for an update.

As a further note, I would say that most of the offensive runes cater to attack speed champions which means there will likely only be a few variations Pantheon can use. It will be nice choosing from Coup de Grace or Cut Down depending on your lane opponent.

I'll do my best to test out all the runes and update the guide accordingly. Thanks again for the comment, and good luck on the Rift during S8 pre-season!

Yeah... the cooldown on it is a bit too long but when you do have it and need it, then I'd take it over the thunder keystone anyday. Shame DFT is gone, I really loved it on Pantheon. But I'll be fine without it, I've been playing Panth since S3 and he's gotten me to Platinum over and over again.

Hey, I started playing him in S3 as well! Hard to believe that was 5 years ago. DFT is actually still present; it's called "Summon Aery" now. Basically the same, but with a slight cooldown. I am guessing it will be useful situationally, but I have yet to test it out. If you try it out, feel free to PM me on MobaFire with what you think of it!

Edit: #1 Panth in the world seems to think that Sorcery Primary and Precision secondary pages is the way to go.
