Very nice build, indeed. I played and won 6 games in a row using it.
I am only a bit frustrated because it doesn't deal a lot of damage lategame. Even when i try to split-push, it takes really too much time to break a turret.
The tankiness is real though, nothing to argue about here. Heavy cc and huge engage ability with the ultimate...
Of course the item build needs to be adapted to every situation. Sometimes i add an iceborn gauntlet. Could you explain why you don't include it in your build? It it somehow a waste because of all the cc you already have?
As i learn to play Sion with this build, i'm starting to think that the power of the shield is a little neglected here. Now that i give more attention to it, i have actually managed to get a few kills with the damage of the explosion. So instead of maxing E then Q, i sometimes give one or two levels in the shield first. This works kinda nice against champions that can dodge or break your Q 24/7. Like katarina, yasuo or renekton. IMO, the shield is better vs them because of their burst dmg and slipperiness. But yeah, it's a different approach and timing.
Another negative point when playing Sion, in my opinion, is the passive. They all can dodge it pretty easily. All i have managed to get with the passive is: some minion kills, 4-5 hits on a turret, one champion kill because he was dumb, a flash used on an enemy because he got too scared.
Now... ok, i know it's better than nothing... but well... it's still kinda frustrating to "die a second time" without accomplishing anything good :-p and since i don't die that often... this feels like a waste, ironically :-D
Anyway, i'm very grateful for this guide. Helped a lot so far! Huge thanks to you!
I personally don't go iceborn because you don't benefit from the mana on it since righteous glory + manaflow band should be enough mana, I can understand the damage is lackluster especially against tanks but with your sunfire cape plus your spells you still should be able to kill squishies a lot of the time, as for the turrets iceborn could help there but I don't really find myself taking turrets very often with Sion besides the first one in top lane sometimes.
Yeah shield is surprisingly stronger then people think, I'm not really sure if putting points into it before Q is good, but I will say that the damage on your W already scales off their max health so it's going to be decent damage level one anyway, plus there is the risk that you might not always get the damage part off which could make Q better, but I understand against slippery targets where Q is hard to hit, so I'm not 100% sure on that.
The passive is really hit or miss for me it either does nothing or it does a lot, one thing to look out for is if your teammates have CC because if you die and have something like a morgana Q that can lock somebody down then your passive is awesome since you can just smack em down, but yeah a lot of the time it will just be useless especially since almost every champion in league has some type of dash or a way to CC you. Also it can be used sometimes for zoning one of their carries out of a fight since he has to run away from you, which I should probably add in the guide, oh and also another thing about the passive I'm not sure if you're aware of is you can use righteous glory active while in it so sometimes that can help you stick onto somebody but most of the time your righteous glory will be on cool down since you probably just fought with it.
