Curious, if having many points doesn't necessarily increase your chances of winning then what are the benefits of accruing points? Apologies if this was answered elsewhere.

Having more points does increase your chances slightly, but most people who have a lot of points get them for just going about their business like writing and updating guides etc. rather than intentionally trying to accumulate as many as they can.
