Hi! Thanks for the guide. As they are continuing to weaken Aatrox in 9.3, what changes to the items or runes should be done?

When will you add at least a few general or most common matchups for Aatrox?

Thank you! I haven't quite had the time to test all the possible synergies and matchups that Aatrox could experience, but hopefully I'll have something to report soon.

How would Glacial Augment Aatrox be build? Like items to utilize the rune etc.
1
Neatkhajiit (1) | November 15, 2018 9:07am
Not a whole lot would change. You basically just get to pick up an item other than Frozen Mallet because the rune does that for you.
1
SenseiWu (1) | November 16, 2018 11:43am
Would you buy active items to utilize Glacial Augment or would you just stick to your standard build?

What does the premitigation-physical damage on Aatrox's E mean? Does the heal come from ability damage or auto attacks or physical damage overall? This word confuses me tbh
1
Neatkhajiit (1) | November 4, 2018 9:21pm
"Premidigation physical damage" simply means the total physical damage you deal before factoring in armor or (though it's not relevant here) magic resist. What that means is that if you were to deal 300 damage to another champion, whether that is by an auto-attack or by your The Darkin Blade, and theoretically that enemy champion had 100% armor, you would do no damage to the enemy, but still heal 300 health. Hope that helps!

It did, thanks for the explanation! When will you add a match-up section btw?

Personally I think grasp usually doesn't work also the dark harvest can be good but it has flaws sometimes. Overall though I think its a solid build!

I appreciate your support! I think it's good to try new builds out and learn for yourself what kind of build you enjoy playing with. I tried to do that with guide by providing multiple solutions to the potential problems you might have playing Aatrox. Please let me know if you think I can improve on anything!

Very useful guide, thank you. Do you think it's normal to main jungle aatrox and what do you think about him?
1
Neatkhajiit (1) | October 25, 2018 11:19am
Of course! I think Aatrox doesn't quite have the mobility of other junglers, but he has the lockdown potential to secure kills. I personally prefer him in lane, but he doesn't have any problem jungling.

I'm a simple man. I see enemy Aatrox taking conqueror, I thank them for the free win.

Neatkhajiit (1) | October 21, 2018 11:57am
I've been thinking about swapping out my Conqueror build for the Comet build just because of how strong it is right now. It's really all about preference, and newer players will probably have an easier time with Conqueror. But hey, at least I helped someone win!

Maintained (201) | October 21, 2018 12:14pm
It's not about preference as Conqueror on Aatrox is simply inferior, unless you're going some kind of off meta attack-speedesque build. Conqueror drops the win-rate of Aatrox severely compared to both Electrocute and Arcane Comet. Which one of you take of the two would depend on the match up, but there is simply no match up where Conqueror is superior. Neither statistically nor theoretically.

In the life steal section you wrote about the rather poor effectiveness of BT. Have you thought about a build with attack speed to utilize BT? I know Aatrox would be far more sqishy without the tank items and the fact that there are only a few attack speed items that would fit for him, but I am still curious about your thoughts on that...

Neatkhajiit (1) | October 15, 2018 7:14am
I have thought about it, and I feel like buildimg attack speed around a single item would be risky. His passive cooldown does not decrease on auto-attack, which would make attack speed great on him. Aatrox doesn't quite have the kit to allow him to utilize high attack speed.

Very nice and fun Aatrox guide, especially mentioning the Jungle sets. I hope you don't mind if I post a a fun set I have been playing around with in Jungle since Aatrox isn't that reliable on Top lane anymore (if you mind then I will immediately delete this comment):

Hyper-Lifesteal/Sustain Build (Jungle):
Items:
-Stalker's Blade: Bloodrazor is your first item as it is your Jungle item and it gives you the crucial attack speed.
-Berserker's Greaves: For the much needed mobility and extra attack speed, but if you are full build in late game and you have the gold, you can replace this with Trinity Force or Youmuu's Ghostblade. While Trinity Forve gives you overall stats, except the mana that you don't need at all, and the +5% movement speed compensate for the movement speed from Berserker's Greaves Youmuu's Ghostblade gives you more damage, lethality and a more mobility due to its active. Since this build lacks CDR I would strongly recommend Trinity Force. Your main damage comes from your auto attacks, but there are always situations where you need your abilities you get out of sticky situations with your Q or to chase enemies down with your E. And longer CDs means you might not cast them in time. But it is rarely the case that you get that far ahead or into such a late late game to get Trinity Force. Still consider getting it if you ever come into such a situation where you are full build and have the gold to buy one of the two mentioned items.
-Blade of the Ruined King: Gives you again extra attack speed, damage, a nice active to pursuit enemies and most importantly: life-steal.
-Spirit Visage: Gives you health, magic resist, CDR and most importantly: Extra healing with the passive. As this is a hyper-lifesteal/sustain build, it is crucial to outheal the damage.
-Bloodthirster: Self-explanatory. Great damage, great life-steal and the passive gives you a nice shield.
-Ravenous Hydra OR Death's Dance: Now here it is difficult in my opinion: Both items give you the same damage and great life-steal, but while Ravenous Hydra is ideal for wave and camp clearing Death's Dance gives you the lacking CDR (with Spirit Visage+Trinity Force you reach the 40% CDR considering you can get Trinity Force) and better sustain against burst with its passive.

You can always replace the last item with something else or similar like Maw of Malmortius or Guardian Angel, it's all up to what you prefer, like or need depending on the enemy composition. Your runes are definitely fine, they go pretty well with my suggested build, I have nothing to complain about at all. But I am still thinking of Lethal Tempo for this build since you rely on auto atacks and attack speed beyond the limit is just insane letting you heal faster with the life-steal and procing your W
faster to. Depending on the situation in a fight/teamfight you will have to decide for yourself whether using W Active (more damage) or Passive (more heal). I hope you will like my idea :) Keep this guide running!

Feel free! I have no quarrels with suggesting a fun and interesting build. If you would like, I could include this item build in the guide and credit you for the idea. I really like the idea and I think it would be a great addition.

SenseiWu (1) | January 31, 2018 1:42am
If you want to include this build, but you really don't have to ;) it is up to you. And again, it is a fun build and therefore not always working. As there is a significant lack of armor (which you can build as your 6th item depending on the enemy composition), this build fits more in your team where there are a lot tanks.
