Hey!

As a fellow Tank Karma player and guide writer, I appreciate this one!

Have you tried Iceborn Gauntlet instead of the Frozen Heart (imo an situational item) ? I believe it provides more utility and overall I consider it better core than FH.

Have you tried anything besides Kleptomancy ? You can read my reasoning for not taking Klepto runes in my guide, I believe it will change your mind of using it.

The matchups are horrible, Karma is great at burning down most of the tanks you rated as "hard" and by poking them early - abuse the range you have, you can get advantage from farming and denying them alone, not everything spins around kills. Writing "This guy just sucks"
next to Vladimir matchup won't really help your readers, will it?

I would advise you to play more games and try different playstyles to get more experience, but I like the guide, hope you will update it soon.

Thumbs up if ya do!

Hello, thanks for commenting on my guide. I'm actually new to mobafire and how it works, also I didn't quite finish the guide. It was more for a friend and I ended up explaining them further elsewhere.

I have tried Iceborn Gauntlet, and I find that it really depends alot on how the team is performing. If the team's doing alright then the aditional damage from iceborn is a good pick and the passive works well in teamfights. But if the teams are even I consider frozen heart to be the safest item since it gives more armor and decreases attack speed. However, it too depends on your own playstyle, either item works well depending how you play, regardless of team performance. I personally like to be in the front line of a teamfight as to distract enemy damage from my carries, so Frozen Heart gives me the better tank stats I need to survive long enough to heal.

As for the runes. I also use Sorcery runes but I didn't know how to add a second rune page in the guide. I take Summon Aery, Manaflow Band or The Ultimate Hat, Transcendence or Absolute Focus, and finally Scorch. I pair it with Inspiration, Perfect Timing and Cosmic Insight. I've also tried using the Resolve runes but they don't work as effectively damage-wise and you're far more dependant on your team than you already are using the other runes.

The matchups vary really, but you're right, I didn't go indepth about the tank matchups in the guide (that part I explained it further to my friend directly). I definitely agree it's really easy to poke and burn down tanks, they're actually the easiest matchups. However, I'm kinda in a low elo I guess? whatever elo gold 4 is where they match me with previous seasons plats and diamonds or whatever. In ranked people would be very cautious but still be poked down easily, in normals they die easier. But in both cases most tank matchups end up building tank items that help them sustain from your damage output, so they either die or recall, but eventually they outlive the amount of damage you can do before you run out of mana. Karma top may come out as a surprise sometimes? maybe? But an experienced top laner will either roam or coordinate well with the jungler. So while the tank matchups might be the easiest in early game, they might become a problem nearing mid and late game. So in a tank matchup your focus should rather be in how to build yourself depending on the enemy midalaner and adc, since you can pretty much survive and kite the toplaner tank damage already, you ought to mind more how your midlaner and adc are doing, who they're up against, whether the enemy team has more ap or ad damage, warding the entrances to your jungle, etc.

After the runes changed all I did was play karma top since it was something I was already used to play before the update and because the new runes made her even more interesting to play, and I actually climbed back to gold only playing karma in the top lane. I do need to play different playstyles though, but I've played enough to be able to tell what worked for me the most, which is what I tried put together in this guide. I'm glad you liked and I might not update the guide in the near future but I'm fine continuing the discussion here.

It is just my opinion, that IBG is better in most scenarios. Obviously, if you cannot play with it properly, it may not be as worth and taking an item like FH might benefit you more. Yet the reasoning for my choice is mostly the composition of enemy team. I do not I do not believe you will benefit off the AS slow. The chance of actually having as high value out of FH, as you would have from IBG is very slight in current meta. Burst and CC is currently above any auto-attack based composition. The use of passive is certainly situational and not worth the effort currently. I have seen players pick it up on Karma, yet it is so easy to shut down that it does not make sense to pick.
(Again, just a opinion, based on my playstyle and experience)

I believe The Ultimate Hat, Transcendence and Scorch are definitely the core for tank karma. The CDR is the power of this champion, so abuse it.
Summon Aery is a great pick for support, yet your usage of it on lane is hardly as worth. I have picked Phase Rush and consider it the best one so far. It counters slows and gives you the easiest way to disengage and reposition in the game, rune-wise. That is, I believe a powerful buff to the champ. I have also written the reason why I take Resolve tree in my guide and why I do not take Inspiration tree at all.

I will not argue with the matchups points you made, as I cannot make anything of it. All I can say is "work hard" and "improve". We might have different opinions and high difference of the skill opponent possesses due to elo in this case, so I will leave it at this.

Yes, indeed you did write a guide of "what works for me". I believe guides are a great way to help players discover their own way of playing and since you chose only to show yours, it does not work for everyone. I myself try to improve, experience more and show the research to my readers, with different playstyles and options to play - while trying to show them the reasoning why my way is the best. This part, sadly missed your guide from afar.

If you do not want to update it, that is fine, but a pity. I really like the way you manifest your points and the fact you play this forgotten gem. You just do not give others the chance of noticing it, if you do not work at it. Players will be thankful of that, trust me on this one.
