Pretty in depth guide that covers almost everything I wanted to know about Sona.

This is the best Sona guide for me. My win rate is 8/10.

The guide is out of date. It includes items that have been removed from the game.

I only see EotW? They probably just skipped over it on their last update this is a pretty frequently updated guide so it'll probably get fixed. For the mostpart I think people will know the issue though since everything else is fine.

Eye of the watchers has been removed but not from the guide.

Its almost Christmas and no silent night sona skin yet :( . Great guide btw

Looking at pro build all of them run archangel rather than roa, then lich bane. Thoughts?

A big problem that i have with archangel's is the price difference. RoA currently costs 2600, compared to archangels costing 3200, which is a rather large amount of gold for a support to have to get in a short enough time for it to be effective. This is why i normally go RoA, because i can consistently get it at the 11 - 13 minute mark, where archangels you normally get at the 16 - 17 minute mark. Probuilds shows that players run archangels over roa because they played sona adc, back when sona taric was a thing, and sona had the freedom to farm. As a support, you should not be farming, but only poking with your q and auto attacks, so gold is harder to get.

tldr; its more expensive and slower to build than roa because youre the support, not the adc.

I sometimes find it difficult to complete ROA soon. I feel like I am giving up a lot building this before Lich Bane. How soon do you think you have to complete ROA in this build to be worth it?

The average time for me to complete is about 11-13 minutes, but it allows for you to build lich bane while it scales. So when you complete lich bane, roa will have probably 7 stacks, which gives you a huge power spike.

Wow that's quick for ROA. For me it's been a few minutes slower than that. I definitely see it being useful getting it that quick.

Sona is based around poking, which is going to be your main source of gold income through /. Which means that the more you poke the enemy laner, the more gold you get, therefore a faster RoA.

Probably should be noted that you can't equip ancient coin line and the spelltheif's edge line at the same time.

nice to have finally seen your guide and i love it <3 but with full AP support might i suggest you take teleport because you can trick another lane into who might be teleporting or scare them away or get back into lane faster as well as making (upgraded archangel's staff) as a core item as it gives Sona a lot of mana sustain as well as a mana shield to survive rough parts in the game and one last thing is that it's not much AP for full AP sona so your Q hymm of valor wont do that much and as full AP sona you want to be doing all the damage possible don't forget about elixir's that increase AP total as well then in the support Ardent censor, mikael's crucible are needed to help even Iron Solari will help because it'll give you both a shield love your guide hope i helped a little bit <3

Heya,

I can see where you're coming from with wanting to take teleport, i'll consider adding it to my sums section. As for the item changes, i can see working in place of , i'll test it out a little bit, and i'll update my guide tor it, as for , , and , they are good items, but they do not fit AP as well as does. Those items, however, are in the actual support sona section of my guide, which is currently being worked on right now, and should be done in the next week or 2.

and is a pretty good mix but for full AP would need to be built so early for it's max charges for the 100 AP so things that give instant full AP are better like

RoA is built early for that reason, so that can be more effective at ~the 18 minute mark, where she should be finishing up , giving her a stronger power spike.

yeah but for an early item it doesn't give much and you are still basically left out in the open vulnerable where are going into is a bit better giving you 1400 mana, 50 AP, and 10% CDR as well as a mana shield which takes 25% of the mana you currently have to give you a shield and when you get the shield is huge and you can survive more while still having that ability to poke it also refunds 3% of the mana cost of abilities to keep you going for a very long time

In the mid to late game, where would need the mana, she has enough mana regen to sustain, and it would take time to charge up. From the 9 or 10 games i have tried it, you normally get the staff upgrade at around the 26 minute mark, which comparing to , you hit max stacks at 22 mins. the gold cost is also a big change, is 500 gold more than rod of ages, which limits how fast you can get which is going to be your main source of damage.

well unless you are someone like who knows how to get the gold when needed that 500 mark is hardly a difference for me though and charging it up can be fairly easy, you don't exactly need straight up, it's just for the 3% mana refund as well as the AP, mana and CDR
