Yes the information here is still relevant as nothing has really changed for GP in the last few patches. I'd say the guide is pretty beginner friendly
I really love this champ, am able to use the barrel tricks pretty well but keep getting crushed in lane.
I keep running into champs like Darius and Jax that just crush me, and even if I have my W for jax he just crushes me, their jungler notices it and they sit on me and not allowing me to farm.
I consitantly keep having only one item around the 15 minute mark with me running klepto.
So yea, I am getting my *** kicked and people are legit constantly flaming me for it in modes like draft, were your suposed to be able to learn champions.
So i have a few questions that I was hoping you could answer;
-what do I do when I simply can not farm, I had a game against a jax (and Lee jungle) that forced me out of lane, I tp back in and Lee just shows up and they kill me, I walk back into lane and the same thing happens. I miss so much farm that I cant do anything and we lost first tower.
-Considering how I am constantly getting crushed and klepto not really paying off much I was wondering if klepto is mandatory on GP as he is an gold depended champion or if I should just start running resolve as my main tree and as secondary sorcery for the manaflow band and CDR.
-I noticed that farming becomes 10x easier once I have completed stormrazor.. Right now this is the second item I get (after trinity force) but I was wondering; if it makes my life so much easier when it comes to farming, should I not just rush stormrazor instead of trinity force? (just rush sheen first for the extra damage on Q and then start getting the components for stormrazor would what I do instead) or is Trinity force as a first item an MUST?
Noob questions but I hope you could answer them as learning gp is basicly made inpossible by both hard matchups, my own team flaming and junglers unwilling to help.
Yet gp is arguably my favorite champ in terms of style so I would love to be atleast somewhat good at it.
The hardest thing about playing GP is getting through those tough lanes against opponents such as Jax and Darius who have oppressive laning phases. It can be really hard if you are getting focused by the enemy jungler also. The best advice I can give for times like this is to honestly just sit at your tower and wait for the farm to come to you. Missing 3 cs is not as big of a deal as dying and missing 9 for example, and GP gets more gold from CS than any other champion (beside TF) due to the gold plundered when you farm with your Q or by Q'ing a barrel.
Learning specific matchups can also be really beneficial. Knowing the exact range of Jax leap or Darius pull can allow you to play a little more aggressive while knowing the exact range you must be away from them.
GP is a champion who can take hundreds or thousands of games to master, so if you keep at it and learn from your mistakes, you'll know how to play better in these situations in future.
Situations like this can be really tough especially if your jungler doesn't try to help you. The best thing to do is to try and keep track of where the enemy jungler is. If they gank bot lane, you know there is no way for them to be toplane within the next minute or so. When i play GP, I always expect the enemy jungler to gank me, so from 3 minutes onwards if I don't see them on the map i always think they are around me. The worst thing that can happen is if you die early, so try your hardest to make sure this doesn't happen or else the enemy jungler can usually towerdive you over and over again. This probably isn't the answer you wanted, but there's no real other way to avoid this other than playing super safe.
I actually do reccomend Grasp of the Undying over Klepto in almost every scenario now as you'll often be running into hard lanes. Resolve tree can really make you hard to kill early so its a great way to get over GPs hardest point.
I personally would say that Trinity force is a must as it gives you a lot of tankiness and sustain alongside nice damage for barrel procs. Once you realise how much health the minions should be on for your Q or barrel to kill them, its really easy to kill waves with GP.
I would advise you to test out Grasp of the Undying as your keystone for a while and see if you can get past the tough early game. Surviving early game and getting a trinity force at like 13 mins as GP is one of the best feelings ever and you can take over the game from there once you're good enough at the champ!
