I am currently Plat IV and seems like enemies are more skilled and abuse my weakness pretty well and i end up getting beaten in lane and overall being useless and behind..
When i ult they just start running away, i cant really splitpush since they just abuse my cons too well.
How do i do to get better with illaoi in higher devisions ?
So, as you noticed Illaoi weaknesses makes her pretty problematic to play if the enemy knows her enough. Obv that the first suggestion I will make is: never go into matchups you know you will lose. When behind is really difficult to get back in the game, moreover since Illaoi's items are pretty expensive, so understanding which champs are more problematic for you (sure, the guide provides a matchup section, but in the end it varies from person to person, so you could feel different towards a certain champ) already is a step forwards to get better. Know your limits and how to avoid getting in those situations. Then if you are first pick... it's all luck based.
Illaoi imo it's less splitpush and more teamfight-oriented; this doesn't mean she can't splitpush, she has one of the best 1v2 potential, but sticking more to your teammates could be a good idea. Then you have to understand when to splitpush: if you don't have any knowledge about enemy positioning or if you don't read carefully the situation the enemy team can react better to your actions, stopping you from doing whatever you are doing and possibly disadvantage your team too (because they remain in 4 fighting, so there is this risk too). So the second suggestion is: understand when it's the right time to splitpush; do you know where the enemy team is? Can the enemy interfere with your splitpush? Can your team fight even on a numerical disadvantage? Are you ready to face multiple enemies? There are a lot of questions like this, you have to repeat them everytime you want to detach from your team. If you are behind stick more with your team and try getting back into the game.
When ulting, you must be sure that the enemy laner wants to trade back, never be to eager to press R. When your ult is down, you are prone to get ganked even more and fall into a pit you can't climb back. E your enemy first and look at how he's reacting: sometimes it happens that you won't ult a single time in lane, sometimes you'll have to ult every time it's off cd. Learn how to read your enemy and you won't waste anymore your ult.
About other tips I don't know unfortunately, you'll have to wait other answers (for example the one on goliath's one, since he's leagues (pun intended) better than me), I hope I have been helpful!
Thank you again for the compliments and feedback, could you please tell me where is the problematic font?
I just have one small question. You listed Yorick as a tiny threat, but I am having extreme issues against him. Even when I got my first item finished his ghouls take approximately q > AA sometimes even 2 Aas to kill and I am talking Games where we usually are pretty even.
What are your tips for dealing with him in general?
On another note I have not played for 4 years so maybe it’s just me not knowing how to play against the new yorick.
Thanks in advance.
Now, about
If you are getting shoved by Yorick, then just retreat under the tower and let it do its job. Quite ironically your best chance to kill him is when he all-ins you: after sterak you'll have a big margin for mistakes and with all the chaos created by the tentacles ghouls won't be a threat, halving his total damage output. Just remember that with the maiden out Yorick can still do a good amount of damage, so always try to stay even with the hp.
One thing that is still true in my matchup description (that I'll fix after this, so ty :D) is his splitpushing power: while illaoi is more teamfight oriented, Yorick is more "**** teamfights, the towers are calling me". Always keep an eye where he is in mid-late game and stop his pushes asap or else you could find him at your inhib after 5 minutes in lane. Setting him behind during the earlier phases can help you and your team delay this process, but deep down in your heart you know that soon or after he'll start tearing down everything.
edit: this is a tip that is valid when playing a top-laner that isn't illaoi, but y'know it's always nice to know something more: if possible fight him always in different zones, so he can't make use of the graves he already created.
tl;dr harass him when he tries to CS to limit the number of ghouls, if the ghouls are out avoid at all costs the E, if he all-ins you all-in (possibly not the other way around or do it only if you are 100% sure his maiden is on CD), take your team and stop him if he even tries to think to splitpush
hope it helps, gl! :^
2.9 tentacles on mid? I thought you can get 10 (4 from terrain, 6 ult hits, including soul from E)
3.lol the jokes
luv it <3
Thanks for pointing that out and I'm happy that you liked the guide :D
Yes, I already saw your guide when it came out and it's a good guide, with some additional work it can become even better!
I'd also personally probably put in some banners but outside of that I think the simplest thing to do to up your guide is just change the colour scheme like I said. This is what I was thinking basically!. Changed the divider just a tiny bit there too, it's this one. Also this is not related to colours but you're missing a line of space right here.
Anyhow just some thoughts I had while reading the guide, it's good as is even without changes :) Nicely done once again Chomuro!
________________
I tried to keep it simple, I took a bit of inspiration from the banners inside Psi's Rek'sai guide (that should be your work right?), for now I didn't add the little titles inside the chapters and I'm not really sure if I'll do it in the future; I don't know if I like the ToC too, maybe if I come up with a better idea I'll change it.
Anyway what do you think?
I'd pick one text size and go with that. It doesn't look very good when you see the yuge PROS AND CONS and then the tiny skill description etc right below.
^Like that
Think those are all my thoughts. I am completely out of thoughts, about anything, now.
Oh but obligatory, this is just what IIIIIII personally think would look nicer, there's no need to agree or implement any of these things! And another obligatory nice job on the banners! Esp the intro banner like I said, I love that one!
edit tfw you use !!!! 3 times in a row
Actually I never noticed that it resembles a dragon, I guess it makes sense since, you know, Bilgewater lore and things. Now I want Firecracker Illaoi.
.....Just kidding, it's a bit more complex. I wanted to keep the rune names, but the border-radius couldn't go over a certain... radius, so I couldn't get a circle. Resolved by creating a two-rows table, but anyway for some reason the circle isn't perfect. Me rn.
Well, you are the artist here, I'm just a guy with no sense of aesthethics, so I'm happy to listen to your advices :D
And thank you again :^
...and I forgot to publish the changes, wow
I see "spacing issues" all the time in guides, I think people forget about it or don't pay attention to it, or things just slip by. It's a lot easier to notice as a reader than as a writer imo. So don't worry about it!
Other than that great stuff :) but do you actually agree with my suggestions? It's your guide so if you prefer.. i dont know, less space between stuff and squared icons and stuff like that, it shouldn't really matter what my opinion as an "artist" (which Iam not, though I wish I were) is. I think I have a decent sense of what looks good (objectively) when it comes to guides and people comment that my guides tend to look good, those are about the only credentials I have. What I mean, your opinion is as good as mine, so don't think that my opinions about guide design are gospel!
Maybe the one that I'm not completely sold is the divider one, but I see by myself that your point is right and there is less... "noise" inside the chapter :^
And I would like if the parser collaborated and made circles instead of... geoids, I think I'll have to change some numbers :<
OOOOOH ok, now I understood what you meant. Yeah, I lowered it by... nearly nothing, like 2 pixels or so, now I'll correct it.
edit: my life is a lie and I don't know how to do 12*1.5
It should be good anyway D:
Dinosaurs existed let's say.. I'm thinking.. couple hundreds of million years ago? I mean sure, okay, there's no definitive answer to the question, no exact year.. but we can all agree they have not existed for, let's comfortably say, a million years now, at the very least?
Now, assuming we both agree to this, that means there had been NO DINOSAURS during the industrial revolution. This period began during the 1760s and spanned several decades. In 1804, the first working railway steam locomotive, shall we say train, was built.
Now if we can agree to the two above facts - that dinosaurs did not roam the earth 210 years ago and that trains became a thing 210 years ago - how can the author, as a stegosaurus, have any opinion on trains? How can they say that they like them?
I think it's just confusing for the readers. We're assuming the person who wrote this guide was a stegosaurus, and he died 200000000 years ago, so he shouldn't have an opinion on trains! It should say leafs instead.
I always put some kind of easter egg in my guides and this one was still missing one, so I took the opportunity when editing the runes :^
And maybe I'm just a lizard man whose grandpa was a stegosaurus, who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You're right, the colours that you suggested are a nice match, I will surely use them! I learned a new colour today too (nope, I didn't know "teal" was a colour), so even better lol
About the banners I was thinking about adding them. Normally I wait like one or two months after publishing the guide before adding them, so I guess it's time to do it.
Thank you very much for the divider, I think once I've added all the colour will be a perfect match!
And that's a big oof from my side about the missing line, I'll add it asap.
Thank you very much for your feedback and for your kind words! :D
Now I need to understand why I didn't get a notification from your comment-
Anyway I made some changes to the colour scheme and corrected some minor mistakes (I even forgot to change the ">" symbols in the same part where it was missing the line lol), what do you think about it now?
also interestingly enough, in my language turquoise is "tirkiz" (тиркиз technically) which is pronounced similarly whereas teal is not translatable. Go figure.
edit: wait ****, they did translate teal to "гроготовац" which is apparently that same duck you were talking about.. that's weird. I'm sure it's also a colour though
And I found out its translation too (by reading the duck's wikipedia page) and it's literally translated as "tea leaves" or... "blue tea" for some reason.
So... teal, tea leaves, I guess it makes sense; maybe it's the same for your language?
Anyway thank you again for the feedback and for this little talk too, I always happy to learn something new!
Thanks
Well, I reckon that conqueror can be viable, but... I can't think a situation where it could be a good idea, mainly for two reasons:
This doesn't stop you to try it, as I said it can be viable, if you want the entire tree I would say Triumph/PoM+tenacity+CdG and resolve secondary then pair it with a full bruiser/bruiser oriented build, but I wouldn't suggest it.
Hope it helps! :^
