I was wondering if maxing w first would be better. I know it has a long cool down and high mana cost, but the 50 increase in damage every level seems kinda insane. If you combo with nevermore, it seems like an almost guaranteed kill.

Its up to you if you want to try that. I havent had any success other than putting one extra point in it at very specific times. Q cdr per level is way too important to pass up. Probably best chance for W max first is if your "bot" and you have alistar or leona to abuse it with.
TLDR : If you dont max Q youre missing out on a massive amount of damage in any fight that lasts longer than 5 seconds.

Do you think Rylai's is good with Swain support?

It can work. Its better imo to go for key items like zhonyas or protobelt. Rylais costs too much.

Very interesting guide, +1. I always thought that Swain support was legit but I'd never thought you could reach D3 with it and compete with meta slaves, GJ. How do you scale into late game though? Don't you have problems being behind in farm, on a champion that doesn't have the best damage scaling and even got his scalings nerfed? Aren't you just a punching ball late game?

Normally Swain support is to counterpick sustain/shield supports. You should be able to completely take over botlane with him. Lategame having zhonyas active single handily turns teamfights. You shouldn't be alone late game. Overall his late game is fine IMO.

Sees a pun in the title of the guide:

STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM! NOBODY BREAKS THE LAW ON MY WATCH!

Hey there!

This guide is really interesting, however I think there's a lot about warding and few things about actually playing during the different game phases. About Swain, do you have tips on how to counter his Nevermove (besides standing midwave)? I feel that he is extremely annoying no matter how back he is.

Anyway, this guide is great to take a quick read during loading screen and I expect great things from it. See ya!

Hey thanks for the criticism! I did think the warding portion was a little too much as well. I am in the process of refining a smaller portion of warding to keep in this guide. I will be making a guide on warding by its-self. I will be expanding on the actual play of Swain, but I realized that visual examples should go along well with what I had planned.

As to countering Swains - E Nevermove : I personally haven't played against him, though people I have trouble landing it on move perpendicular to the ability. The abilitys speed is a bit slower than id like and allows time to move out of the way.
Another way to dodge the Root on the way back would be to walk towards him as long as you can get infront of minions.

Again thanks for the comment, i expect to continue to iterate on this until i feel its complete. Hope I understood your question and answered it properly. If I think of anything ill reply again to add on.
