That could be viable paired with sorcery as the main rune set, the extra health back is useful for sustaining Zilean. I would try it out, it sounds like a good idea.

I was wondering who you would recommend as some good synergies with Zilean? If not specific champs, what kind of kit would be a good combo with Zilean's

Sorry for the late reply, some synergies for Zilean would be: Jinx, Jhin, Ashe, and any other champions that can take advantage of locking down enemies with their own slows/stuns, and then Zilean can build on it.

Something just crossed my mind. I saw a build that uses resolve for secondary runes, and it made me think "wouldn't Zilean's ult always receive the max (15%) boost from revitalize?" This wasn't one of the chosen runes, the guide had Font of Life and Bone Plating. Once you have pretty high AP, maxed ult, and if revitalize does effect your ult, 15% might be enough of a boost to revive all but the tankiest champs to full health. Of course the problem I see is that this is more of a long game strategy, where you'll only really reap the benefits late game.
I do like the idea of focusing more on rounding out what Zilean lacks as a support, mostly healing with Font of Life. If you don't land stuns you're not going to be much of a use anyway, at least in my experience, so your teammates healing off of attacking enemies could be a big help. This might pair especially well with Ashe and Kai'Sa who can either give their AS a massive boost or abilities that hit enemies a lot at once.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the comment though, you've made a very good suggestion in giving Zilean a tankier/heal focused build. I will have to test it out in league and see if it would make a solid alternative build for him. The long term strategy might be viable as it relies on Zilean's late game strengths.

Very nice guide! :) I think it's really good you covered the weirdness of Riot's min movement speed. Too many people think that 99% slow is essentially a root.

I'm not sure I agree though with leveling 'E' before 'W'. With 'W' maxed, youc an spam out your stun combo, but if you wait till almost lvl 18, you'll be doing about half as many stuns. With 1-2 levels in 'E', you can usually speed up your ADC to kite or slow your fleeing foe down enough without the extra three levels. Wait, you say that you level up E 2nd bcz W is not as usseful but in the guide It's shown that you level up W 2nd, soo which one do you level 2nd?
One more thing, I never played encahnter supports but I know that some of them used to take the item named Ardent Censer and I can't see you mentioning him anywhere, is it somehow good on Zilean or not?

Hey there!

Saw what you meant with E and W, I made a recent change to my levelling and forgot to edit that part, so thank you for pointing it out. To clarify I now level W before E in preference, it will be in my guide now.

In terms of Ardent Censer, it has changed a bit over time, but at its current position it can work with the build quite well, I'd put it in place of something like Shurelya's Reverie. It has AP, Mana regen, Cooldown Reduction, Movement Speed and also increased healing/shield power. While Zilean only heals with his ultimate when reviving, the Summon Aery rune sends shields to an ally you target with your E, so it can be effective. I'd give it a go, and I'll have a look at it in depth for my guide possibly.

Hey just a heads up but it says you put 5 points into Q right away (with 1 point into R at 6) but you can't do that, you'd do 4 points then be forced to level another ability and THEN finish maxing Q

At your request I checked out my ability order, and as far as I can see it goes Q,W,E,Q,Q,R for the first six levels on the first page. Unless it is hidden somewhere specific in my guide I cannot see it anywhere, sorry.

I mean the first 5 points in 5, sorry.
By level 8 it'd force you to put a point in either W or E and Q would be unavailable to be levelled, it's a mechanic to stop you from quickly maxing a single ability and had me really conmfused as to what to level because the guide was saying "level Q" but I couldn't

When you take Summon Aery, you can activate Athene's Unholy Grail and Ardent Censor with your E and your Ultimate. I've been having lots of success with these two items. Are they worth using or have I just been getting lucky?

Hi there,

I remember when Summon Aery first came out I had the same idea and incorporated both items into my build. After many patch notes and suggestions I gradually changed from the healing and protecting approach to a more damage-orientated item build. Overall I like to think my guide has a balanced approach to damage and supporting so that it accommodates most play styles. In brief, your idea is fantastic if it's working for you, I found great success with those items for a while. So it's definitely worth it, keep using Zilean how you like!

Hi @ Wise Owl;

Is just wanted to let you know that there's a minor update you need to make on your guide.
In the build with your items there's a note at the part of the 'early items' that says "Tear of the Goddess for that mana. Boots with the runes we take will be available after 10 minutes."
So I am assuming you had in your runes at some point, but right now it isn't in there.
I know it is a very very small think but I just wanted to let you know to improve your guide even more! ^^
