1. Conqueror is by far the most optimal keystone on an auto-attack champion such as yi. Lethal tempo has a slight advantage in the early stages of the game, but the quick 5 stacks, 15% healing, and adapted force gained combined with rageblade is just too beneficial to pass up. Therefore, it must be at least mentioned in the secondary rune-page.
2. The 35% attack-speed gained from berserker's greaves is unnecessary, especially since even without you will max attack speed eventually. The items that yi buys definitely do not lack damage. 25% tenacity or 12% reduced damage from auto-attacks should, in my opinion, be the main boots, rather than the secondary options.
3. Relentless hunter is not a bad choice, but the ravenous hunter rune also provides insane sustain, and will heal about 20% of your hp back every alpha strike in late game, with all five stacks. This rune will also synergize with yi's empowered true damage autos, as well as solo the baron extremely quickly.
4. Why is there a random stormrazor in the build? Deaths dance, wits end, and steraks make much more sense than buying a 25% crit item in an on-hit yi build.
Thanks for the feedback. I took it into and made some changes to the guide.
1. You definitely do bring up a good point by bringing up conqueror. It's my preference to use lethal tempo for the most part. One of the things I try to espouse in my build is that you should shouldn't choose simply just one simple item/build/runes etc. It's my mistake to not include other rune options in here. I prefer lethal tempo because as you mentioned it gives the early game advantage. My playstyle is more so a hit and run play style. I prefer lethal tempo because it just lets me mindlessly hit people faster and also helps to potentially reset your Q. Is conqueror better for win rate? Probably. As such I added the runes you suggested as a secondary page. I definitely think that conqueror is helpful for top though for sure.
2. You actually don't reach max attack speed with the buid mentioned. I believe your attack speed is 2.1 with an end-game build. It goes up with Rageblade but even then I don't believe it reaches max attack speed at 2.5. Lethal tempo allows your attack speed to go above max so that sort of negates that anyways. As far as the boots goes, I don't exactly consider merc treads or the tabi's as secondary options. I consider the three boots I have listed as on the same level. It's just looks like a secondary option because of how I broke down the early game items in the build. I had to choose a boot based on how I had the item build worked out. Had I used merc tread, people would be like well why does it look like ninja tabis or berserker's greaves are your secondary option?
My general rule for building boots is 3AP/heavy cc = merc treads, 3 AD/heavy basic attack champs = ninja tabis. I didn't make it so clear in my earlier versions of the guide, hence I've added some edit after your feedback.
3. Again this moreso my personal preference. It's my mistake for not providing more rune options. I play a hit and run playstyle. The relentless hunter allows me to catch up to enemies. You can't apply on hit effects if you don't catch them. It allows you to move to farm quicker and also allows you to get there quicker/gank quicker. Relentless hunter won't show up in the damage stats but it may help you snowball in the early game. If someone wants to build a different rune, they should go ahead and do it. Your build should differ depending on the game. These runes are just my preferences. Again my mistake for not having a more/different rune options.
4. Again personal preference in the build. I even have stormrazor and guardian angel listed under the "possible last 2" heading. Why do I build it? All of the stats work well with Yi. I like to build it is all. Do I build it every game? Not really. I consider bloodrazor, boots, and rageblade as the core. BORK to a lesser extent, but it's needed because I did not go lifesteal runes/sustain item. Anything after that should be situational, hence the situation items section.
TLDR: All in all, my personal preference in runes, in making the guide, and in build. My mistake for only including one rune option. That was a part that was lacking in this guide.
1. For the attack speed thing, I went into practice tool to test it out. The standard build on the website(replacing berserkers with merc treads and ninja tabi's), the base attack speed with no added bonuses was 1.8, with highlander 2.32, and with 2 stacks of rage blade added the attack speed was maxed out(This is not even taking into account the 12.5% gained through alacrity!!). In my opinion, you should not take fights as yi when you do not have highlander up during the late game, and almost always you will have it up for a major team fight. Although the AS nerfs coming out may change this fact, I simply think berserkers greaves fall off way too hard, and should be only a niche pick when snowballing incredible hard, rather than an equal plane to 25% tenacity and 12% less damage from auto-attacks. My opinion tho haha. (but pssst... Every single diamond+ yi player builds defensive boots every single game)
2. Hm... I would consider perhaps moving deaths dance and wits end into the main items pool? I can not imagine a game without one of those two items.
3. A threats/synergies page would really make this guide complete! How about it?
All in all, I'm glad you took the time to respond, and fix some things! Thanks and good luck on other guides!
