There are more than one mythic items in one build I'm pretty sure u can buy more than one. Is the build not updated yet?

Yes the current default build is out dated and I had not update it yet because I am currently busy with school work so I just don't have the time to go and messed around with the new item but I will try to do it as soon as I can. Sorry for the wait. >.<

First of all I appreciate someone who plays rakan top just like me however I play it from time to time but that's not what I'm asking about. I have a few questions regarding this build. First of all wouldn't Aftershock be the best default rune option for top lane? It wins a lot of matchups such as irellia tryndamere and jax just to name a few due to it's insane win trading potential level 1 - 2.

Are you looking for optimalbility or just finding what's fun?

Another question what is your goal as rakan top like are you trying to win lane? are you trying to scale out of it? be a supportive top laner?

That's all I really had to ask other than that, this is a good start to a guide and hope you can really flesh this out in the future.

It really depend with your playstyle for the rune. I usually like to constantly harass the enemy in lane with Arcane Comet (it deal a ton of damage) and will get them low enough for an execute by level 6-ish or sooner (rn this build is messed up since most of it is now mythic item so you'll have to wait for me to fix it). And also because of Rakan lack of constant damage (he only have his Q & E), I don't really like to go with Aftershock because what will you do after your combo? Any top lane champ like Irelia or Tryn can easily out damage you. That is also why I recommend Black Cleaver and no AP for this rune because you will be focusing on tank item and BC will give you a good bit of damage and it have good passive. But this rune is good for late game as you will be tanky when engaging in teamfight. In summary, take Arcane for more kill pressure and harassment in laning phase and Aftershock for better teamfight and when your team need a tank.

For your second question, when I first started this guide, I was doing it because I think it will be fun. Now, I'm trying to actually find a way to make him a viable option for top.

Lastly, your goal as a Rakan top will varied through games. Like I said up there, Arcane will be for winning lane and Aftershock will be for scaling and teamfight. Right now I'm looking for a new build that will make him a "supportive" toplaner ever since the removal of Hextech GLP-800 and Twin Shadow (f for respect), the Glacial build path is no longer usable top lane but might still work as a mid laner (I don't know just yet because all I've been playing is Fiora).

Thank you for your support. Please drop a thumbs up to help my guide grow. I hope I had given you a satisfactory answer (I really try my best). And since Riot let ranged champ buy tiamat, you can expect some AD Rakan coming soon! (Spoiler, it *might* contain new mythic item Goredrinker, Conq and a lot of ability haste)

I love Rakan and tried him everywhere when played matches with all roles filled with (RL) friends. I'd say that top was the hardest as since he's there far away and all alone by himself, the opponents took him whether as a troll and easy kill or as a weirdo and easy kill, resulting him in being heavily camped till they took down his tower (which at least worked for him, as he was finally left in peace for a while.) Down to my limited experience, other supports going top (ie. Lulu) were easy peasey, while those toplaning champions who are usually hard to deal with were a nightmare (in case Jax, it's awful going solo against him.) These days I believe I satiated my curiosity and I'm quite fine playing him only as a support. I confess thought that once in a while I open that practice tool and pop our lovely bird in there, just to have some fun while trying different items, builds and styles with no distractions nor anyone to judge. hehe

Oh yeah, one thing I learned too is that while on him on those "unusual" routes, if I was ahead, the more AP the merrier was the way to go, but if behind (not uncommon), I'd prefer to boost his attack speed while still keeping him AP-flavored (Tooth, Wit's end or Guinso's Rageblade) paired with on-hit stuff.

With Rakan, it would be a pretty easy laning phase if you can have vision control over the river, matchup knowledge and occasional help from your jungle. And because when people see Rakan top, they would underestimate him which can be used in our advantage. By all mean, Rakan is NOT an easy kill even with enemy gank. His W and R provide him with an escape route and if you play him correctly, going for trade with W+Q and Arcane Comet until they are low enough to execute, but the real problem start after laning, when enemy laner got their power spike item/s. More detail coming in my guide :>.
Attack speed with AP on Rakan is not bad but because when you choose him for top, you are assuming the tanky-ish frontline of which will not be gain with Atk spd item so I don't think it is very suitable.

What a guide xDDD
I play AD carry, but my secondary role is support. However, I never really thought of playing Rakan, nor Xhaya. So, if I get a man and he becomes my man? I will force him to play league of legends and then we can play Xhaya and Rakan xD
What do you think of my motives? xDDD
Anyways, this guide is different and nice!

Finally, a guide that i need. i was just wondering if you can use phase rush on rakan to help stick to enemy?
1
tasie456s | July 15, 2020 6:16pm
Phase rush is a viable rune choice if youre into something such as a nasus or darius that will slow you and either run you down or kite you. Aftershock is generally better though, as it allows you to jump into fights and run around more freely without worrying baout taking a lot of damage. Ive told Mr Hellking this a bunch of times but he refuses to listen. The optimal build for aftershock would be the same bruiser build on there, but with protobelt first instead of cleaver as you dont need the armour reduction from cleaver.

@ vSolitude That is actually an interesting question. I will have to try that out next time and see how it goes.

pls change the comet to phase rush and make aftershock the default runepage lol
