Items are almost identical to my build, and a lot of the slight differences are changes that I strongly disagree with. Ghost is great on Poppy, better than Flash. Black cleaver works much better in my experience than Last Whisper. Bloodthirster should NOT be taken off the list for sword of the occult... It's your only lifesteal and allows you to stay out forever. Plus if you are fed enough to use sword of the occult you will be destroying with the typical items you have listed anyways. It's nice that you added a little bit of strategy at the end, but besides that there is very little unique to this guide.
You're right, the builds are very similar. I didn't check all of the poppy builds already made before making this one. I prefer last whisper to black cleaver for two reasons: the first is that last whisper is now a damage item since the patch and I prefer that over the attack speed of black cleaver. The second reason is that you will likely not be spending a lot of time striking the enemy. Your main power comes from the first two hits and you should already be through their armor at that point. For that reason I prefer armor penetration which can lead to a quicker death to armor reduction which can weaken the enemy.
As for bloodthirster, I havent found it to be necessary in staying out. By this point in the game the minor life steal gained from it does not compensate for the massive amount of damage you need to take to force you to return to base. That said, I get the bloodthirster about 85% of the time since it has actually saved me in a few team battles.
Finally, I disagree strongly with putting infinity edge at the end of the build. The 250% critical strike is necessary to get some good kills. Throwing it in at the end is a way of saying its too expensive to care about earlier and would be a nice afterthought if you get there. Many of your games didn't even end up making it. Try making infinity edge earlier and watch as your damage on the
As far as the guide goes, I'd like to see a little more "why?". Explanations for why you mastery the way you do, rune choices, item choices, etc.
