Hi, I'm new to Gragas and was wondering is there an instance where you take electrocute? I mostly play Gragas mid, and so I don't know what the best runes are for specific matchups.

I have to say, in my experience, maxing barrel isn't that great unless you're against longer-ranged champs. (anyone in melee or mid-range you can generally e onto) Like you said, it's really expensive, and it deals about the same base damage as e unless you force someone to stand in it for the full duration. Both of his other skills put together cost the same mana as a single q. Not only that, but being a knockup and a mobility skill at the same time, it's inherently more valuable than q which just does damage and a slow. (the cd goes down by a lot with levels so its going to be up a lot more often) I'm not saying e max is correct for every situation, and this opinion is partly because I main him top; but at the very least e max in mid is better against assassins, or those weird people who play melee champs mid. (w-e-auto-walk away hits like a truck as long as you can land it, and there's virtually no counterplay unless they pull off a clutch flash/dodge)
