Don't play aggressively early game - Vlad is weakest then. Once you reach level 7, your Q is on a short enough cooldown that you're very strong at zoning.

Practice with him in normals a few times before taking him to ranked. Make sure, when you play ranked, you play someone you know.

I played ranked once and decided to go Sivir randomly, played her like once before a while ago.

I did so bad my teammates literally said in all chat to report me for trolling since i was playing someone I didn't know how to play...

o-o

yea.

Keep in mind that in Ranked games the playstyle is typically more passive. Lots of Vlad players like to be crazy and dive people under towers and get firstblood and things like that. That is a big no no in ranked. I wouldn't even try to start harassing the enemy until you are lvl 5 so your Q is on a reasonable CD to make it worth getting that close to them. Earlier than that focus on getting last hits with your Q. When you hit 6 and get your Ult THEN you can try to kill them. Wait until they are at say 40% health, ghost, ult, ignite, q, pool, q, profit (still don't tower dive if you can't get away with it!). I would highly suggest reading the top Vlad build.

It would be easier to help if you said what specific problems you're having, but when I'm playing Vlad, the main thing I try to remember is to NOT spam my W spell. I almost purely use it for escape or finishing someone off, but never just to harass. It damages yourself and has a long cooldown, so you need to conserve it. The main thing I see unsuccessful Vladimirs do is rushing. They seem to think that their Q and W makes them invincible, and start going all kamikaze. Sure, sometimes it works, but when it doesn't, you just gave the other team a large advantage.

I make sigs, PM me if you want one :D (Thanks for the Nidalee sig, The_Nameless_Bard!)

Specific info is needed. Also certain heroes can give Vlad trouble early game. I would definitely look at some of the better guides out there and try to see if their tips and tricks can help you with your problem. I have a complete section with tips on Vlad's possible mid opponents. Some general tips I can give you:

1) Play defensively until at least lvl 7-9. Not a bad idea to wait till level 11 depending on your opponent.

2) Last hit only early game

3) Turret hump early game if you have to. Ties in with step 2.

4) Use Sanguine Pool as an escape tool... not an offensive or initiation tool.

5) Don't under estimate Tides of Blood. Even if it is only level 1. Try to keep a couple stacks up on it. It helps you farm fast and it is a nice AoE damage ability. ESPECIALLY when you have 3-4 stacks of it up.

6) Don't underestimate spell vamp (hextech revolver ---> Will of the Ancients) on Vlad. It is very nice on Vlad.

7) Build AP

8) and it is NEVER a sure thing.

Vlad is sustained damage. He doesn't have huge burst. But you can stay in the lane longer than most. Practically all.
Did I manage to assist you in any way? Hook me up by hitting that nifty +Rep button.

All guides have been archived due to my not being able to play LoL currently. The information is still there and is good but until I return they will be archived. I am able to keep them updated and current though.
