Question about ranked system , what is it?

I was like wtf? Next game again with silvers but I lost and got... -30 and since then I am constantly playing with silvers, unranked... getting +15...+18 and loosing -28...-30. So I am a bit concerned, isn't it too big of an mmr demotion for only 6 lost games in a row?
