What's your opinion on AP Rakan? I find that it's more enjoyable because he can still 1v1 someone when the situation calls for it but still brings lots of impact in team fights.

Hi loaderdragon,

So my honest opinion on AP Rakan is that it's too expensive to get going. It's fun and all if you play him mid where you can farm consistently, but on support you get too low of an income in my opinion. But I also have to say, you should play the game for fun and if you think AP Rakan is fun, who am I to tell you not to?

Hey what do u think about enchanter rakan? cause I get u can be squishy but dont know if its worth it with enchanter items because u can proc them a lot with ur shields and have bigger heals.

Oh and I forgot to mention that almost all of his kit scales with AP so I want to know if right now its worth giving rakan enchante a shot. Thanks c:

Heya AlexHawkJr,
So personally I don't think Rakan is the most reliable enchanter.
Your heal is a skill shot which makes playing him enchanter less rewarding.
I wouldn't advice it.

True, I forgot to actually compare it to real enchanters.

Thanks for the reply dude!

im thinking about trying mandate again do you think it is still good this season on rakan?

Aerenax (5) | March 4, 2024 10:01am
I think it's still pretty good, but you have to becareful when to build it. The item doesn't provide any tank stats which makes you incredibly squishy when you go this first item. Make sure you got some tanky stats before getting it!

do you think knights vow is good atm?

Support items are pretty good overall at this point. What makes these items good is when you build them in the right game: so when you have a hypercarry with short range this is pretty good!

Heya darkxsoul,

I just updated the guide last night again as I found something working better than I thought at first hand. I'll keep testing today and update the guide the coming weeks! Also need to revision the roaming and the vision parts as the map has changed.

what is the best mythic for him at the moment?

Aerenax (5) | December 28, 2023 11:36pm
Hey Darkxzsoul,

In my opinion that is Radiant Virtue. That seems to work best in most situations. Becareful though as the itrm changes in season 14 will remove Radiant Virtue so try to enjoy it in the upcoming days!

Hello there, this is an amazing guide! Thanks for easily explaining things.

I am new to Rakan and I have been wondering about something... Can you actually mix AP with Utility? This is a problem I get with lots of supports, I am not a big fan of support items... It feels like I miss some damage if I go full Utility.

For example I've been thinking about taking Night Harvester (nice combination between AP, health and Ability Haste) or Rod Of Ages (the combination of stacks between health, mana and AP) as Mythic.

I feel like going a mix of tanky/AP/utility when playing Rakan.

What about Rylai's Crystal Scepter? It gives a lot of health, decent damage and it slows. Beside that, it doesn't cost that much like the other AP items.

Imperial Mandate has the nice mana regeneration stat and it marks the enemy which means more damage dealt by you and your ally.

All of that mixing with support items (like Chemtech Putrifier) because they don't cost that much as AP items.

How do you feel about that? Do you think is it possible to make Rakan a hybrid or would you say it is useless?

Hi Krypton,

Thanks for your question!
So a hybrid build for Rakan is something that has been a thing as long as this champ existed. In my opinion Rakan isn't designed to deal damage but to hop in and out of fights to either start a fight or peel your carries to full extent. By building hybrid, in this case building more damage, you shift your focus to one of those 2 aspects, which automatically lowers your focus in the other aspect, in this case your peeling potential.

The second problem with building hybrid is that items are way to expensive for a support income. Most mythics are way to expensive for the value they provide, where only Radiant Virtue and maybe Everfrost are worth their value outside of the support mythics. As a support you want to be as efficient as possible with the small amount of gold you earn, so you have to be smart about the choices you make. I'm happy to finish my boots, a mythic and a second item when a game lasts 25-30 mins.

Looking at the items you suggest I'll give a short opinion on them.
- Night Harvester/Rod of Ages: too expensive for the value they give.
- Rylai's Crystal Scepter: The slowing effect has almost no benefits for your kit as the damaging abilities you have either knockup (W) or charm (R) which already provide CC. Only your Q would benefit from the slow application and you just don't use it to chase someone down.
- Imperial mandate: Is a decent option but you have to be mindful about the fact you won't be as tanky as building a zeke's for example.

I hope this answers your questions! Feel free to ask me anything if stuff is unclear :)

That was fast, I didn't expect an answer! xD

Thank you so much for the detailed and friendly answer! I was thinking the same about the costs... Way too expensive, sadly. Thanks again :)

how do i know weather to build battle song or raidant

Aerenax (5) | August 15, 2023 12:57pm
Hi Darkxzsoul,

That's a pretty good question, so this won't be a short answer:

First and foremost chosing a mythic has to fit a playstyle, so I won't say that one of the 2 is better, but I will only recommend what mythic fits my playstyle best. In my case that has always been shurelya's and now I'm starting to experiment with radiant more.

The game technical answer would be this: Shurelya's is better when you are ahead or want to add to the utility of your team. Radiant is much better when you are the only frontline on your team or in a losing matchup. According to feather daddy, who has some videos on itemization so make sure to check those out, radiant is good every game, but again this is a preference thing.

I hope this answers your question!

Kind regards,
Aerenax

Hello! Very well-made guide, my friend!

What do you think about Q maxing? I don't personally think it's really that good, but some pro players suggest it into some lanes because of its high base healing. I think it's too reliant on teammates and it's just easier to max W and punish enemies the normal way.

Let me know what you think! Best of luck!

Aerenax (5) | June 9, 2023 7:25am
Hi BradJr,

Thanks for reaching out. So my opinion on Q maxing is the following: maxing Q can be useful in heavy poke matchups. Since Rakan's buffs in patch 13.3 his Q healing and damage went up, making it a better choice than before. I still recommend maxing W first as it gives the most value.

what about helias on rakan?
1
Aerenax (5) | May 22, 2023 3:05pm
Hi knifefang,

So in my personal opinion Radiant and Shurelyas both have more value than Helias when playing in comps where you are the engage tool of your team. I haven't done too much experimenting with Helias yet, so maybe an update will follow.
