im not as experienced on jg mundo but the general gist is fleet footwork is needed in any elo where the enemy can invade properly (prolly like diamond+) since otherwise ur first clear is very vulnerable, and fleet doesnt really get outscaled that hard since the movement speed stays somewhat relevant and the precision secondaries are rly strong. That said, into certain matchups or in an elo where you are confident they wont try to invade you on first clear, you can go my personal favorite, phase rush. It's just a better scaling version of fleet that also lets you gank a lot better, but in return doesnt do much early and sorcery secondaries arent quite as strong. Beyond that there arent really any viable options. Grasp is bad dont take it in jg
I'm pretty sure the build is the same! The only two things are now you can situationally go bandlepipes second or (super situationally) zekes second. In 90% of your games your build will probably look the same though
as for hitting threshold you just have to be a bit more mindful with grasp procs. Its still doable to hit threshold on giants belt + warmogs, biscuits lets you completely turtle in lane though which is why I assume people like it. It's still definitely a viable option especially if ur not super comfortable on the matchup or you just want a chill laning phase, but I think overall approach is gonna be stronger
I love the work you put it to help us play Mundo better, and I follow each and every of your updates with great attention and appreciation.
The only thing is I only play Mundo Jungle, and when I read your guide, I just don't know what to do right.
I would be so grateful to you if you could make it more accessible for us junglers,
With love,
Mundo le jungler
also check the message you sent me, I replied to it
With an armor oriented build (bramble + randuins) you eventually start winning the 1v1 if you're even, although you lose 1v1 at any stage of the game if she's ahead (which she usually will be the lane is really bad) and she has the tools to do more than you in a teamfight until you're lvl 16. So you do have the scaling edge but it's not like renekton where you can get completely **** on in lane and still do more later
also, i wanted to ask, i barely enjoy playing anything outside mundo and gragas, though with gragas i dont feel i perform enough, how do u navigate your ban and playing into the void hell matchups kled/fiora/gwen/aatrox/yorick/ambessa/irelia, **** that is way stronger in lane and even if you somehow go even ***** on u sidelane
2. when I'm tilted I ban gwen, otherwise I usually just ban whatever the general good ban is (which is usually bel'veth but I wouldn't ban her outside masters+). ATP I just pick mundo into kled fiora irelia ambessa even though they arent good matchups. I find they are still kinda playable and, yeah same, I don't really enjoy other stuff anymore. Fiora especially is kinda overblown in my opinion, unless she gets an early lead its not that bad and it's harder for fiora to get an early lead than aatrox or something. She legitimately needs full build to kill you in a sidelane if you play well assuming you're even. The only notable matchups I always switch up on are sett for gwen, darius for aatrox and trundle for yorick
into these kinds of matchups I usually play passively super early to give my jungler a chance to help me/someone else on my team to get fed and carry, and then if its evident that aint happening I play more aggressive than I normally do. If you idle in these kinds of lanes you're just gonna get **** on later, so its better to just pray you outplay them with movement and cleaver aim in lane. Something I try to do pretty consistently into people who arent experienced in their champs is to feign confidence, its risky but if you land a cleaver and juke their poke a couple times in a row at the beginning of lane it'll get baked into their head that they should be standing behind the wave which obviously make scaling way easier. You can take this a step further by walking up to the wave and tossing e projectiles at them. There are a lot of ambessa lanes where I dodged a couple q2's at the beginning of lane and retaliated with cleavers, they backed up, and once you're ontop of the wave as mundo you can just perma shove and toss cleavers under their tower
its also REALLY important to go tank instead of an Alois titanic build into these kinds of matchups since it stabilizes a lot faster
Alois normally goes by "go full dmg if theyre either BORK users or % max hp dealers", why would it be more stable to go in your opinion vs the likes of irelia or fiora for example go Warmog + HSteel + Bramble + Armor item over Warmog+HSteel + bramble + Titanic Hydra?
In actually fighting a BORK user like irelia or someone like fiora, Warmogs + HSteel + Bramble is actually going to make the 1v1 a lot easier. That said it's still not favored for you so I think Alois just goes full damage since in a split/macro sense that build has better waveclear/jungle stealing/tower damage and you can look for cheeky picks easier. I personally would just rather make the 1v1/teamfight easier though
Normally in a situation like this I WOULD ban Kled but the bruiser midscope he just received made the matchup a lot easier (still not a good matchup but not ban-worthy)
so lately I've just been banning whatevers OP/counters whatever my team is hovering, or if no one is hovering just banning bel'veth since that champs giga broken in high elo and is annoying as mundo.
Although I still think the best ban for most people is Aatrox I just don't see him anymore. Hope that helps!
One thing I've been running and having a ton of success with is an early dead man's plate after swifties into everything. Into melee it allows me to play a totally different fighting pattern of running into the fight, w auto q e w, then run out, and it feels almost broken. I'm in quite low elo (https://www.op.gg/summoners/na/NosikaOnline-8567) but I wanted to hear your thoughts on it! Also if you'd like any additional info on your guide specific to low elo, I think there are a lot of matchups and whatnot that are quite different down here (opponents playing more exploitably).
Hope to see the new guide soon!
Looking at your stats it looks like you're rocking the mundo even in this season so good job on that. I have had trouble making him work lol his mid game feels a lot worse now which I am still trying to circumvent, although frankly he just desperately needs compensation buffs with warmosg being unbuildable now.
In terms of a deadmans second item, I have seen people doing this and I've tried it out a few times. Heartsteel into deadmans feels really strong as an alternative to the old armor rush into full AD teams (which went old unending despair second) so definitely do it there. I'm not totally convinced its just his new build path though, as if there is even one early ap threat you pretty much just cant teamfight. The combo you mentioned sounds nice but deadmans alone is not fixing mundos awful disengage, at least in high elo. Furthermore unfortunately mundos base AD is pretty bad which is the main part of the item people keep raving about. Not saying its bad, just haven't done much testing yet and these are my thoughts, I'm honestly just waiting for some kind of mundo or mundo item buff to come out before fully discovering his new build paths as I don't find it very productive to do when a champion is very under or overpowered. And a quick word of advice, new unending is currently very weak on anyone besides sion or chogath. You need 7k HP to make it as good as it was before and mixed resistances this small are usually a net nerf. It's still probably FINE on mundo fourth but only if you go visage third. Second can be deadmans like you said, or maybe a titanic, warmogs is dead though.
Yes, I would love to hear your thoughts on matchups! Its always been a little weird to me that I am writing him from high elo experience when the majority of mundo players arent high elo. I want the guide to be as helpful as possible so I do plan on eventually making two separate matchup sheets. Id appreciate your help on it!
Thanks :)
EDIT: just checked, apparently axiom arcanist is going to work next patch for mundo. Looks like me dming abunch of riot staff on twitter about it worked lmfao we are BACK. Ill update the guide once I test a bit on the new patch, phase rush is definitely the new meta
