it's not really a "culture" background, the art is about the Red Armies
it looks like she's showing her families part in the soviet regime and how it was completely evil and that her father (grandfather?) shouldn't have supported this movement
actually, kind of hard to tell her message: at the end she's showing him as part of her country -- and that what he did helped rebuilt the country
kind of confusing, but it's still a sad video

the music played at 3 minute mark is a war song for Russians. this is why many people in the audience are crying at this point - it's the song of their country - their nation - being destroyed
