If people are gonna recommend getting an Archangel on tanky Soraka, why is no Frozen heart involved? I mean seriously, it boosts her AP because of Archangel's passive and makes her so hard to kill...
as for not taking heal right away: I don't take it 'till level 3. I max infuse (caster bane if you mid with her like I do) first, then starcall, then heal. It's much more fun to play Soraka as a caster DPS with healing then as a straight healer and it is viable. Soraka has the potential to deal massive amounts of damage, but very few people seem to realize this (I posted an entire guide explaining this play style and got berated for "Soraka with Magic Pen?").
