I don't like this. Items should depend ENTIRELY on what champion you're playing and who you're facing.
Things like this could be awfully misleading for new players and I don't see it helping at all :(

no it doesnt. certain items are just bad.. ex. wits end > malady, but can get confused.

Among the items you mentioned there is not one of them that are flat out superior to the other for it's cost. They're all good under the right circumstances.

Ok, so Banshee's Veil blocks one spell and most people are smart enough to waste a 'less useful' spell so they can still nuke you. I'm talking about finding useful defence without losing offensive capabilities.

I think this is good and helpful, but I do think that some things might need to be swapped around a bit, like some of what people are recommending.

or instead of spending the 3k on abyssal you can get a flat ap item and a negatron cloak.. which combined costs less.. get a needlessly large rod, and turn it into zhonyas or rabaddons, and get a negatron, and turn it into banshees, which you should be doing anyway.. >.<

I'm thinking more late game after I already have Rabaddon's and I would never get Zhonya's because I find it completely useless. I can't argue against Banshee's though since I almost always get it no matter who I'm playing anyway. :P
And generally by the time this late game necessity comes around, I already have it. I suppose my argument with Abyssal is in addition to other items (i.e. Archangel, Rylai's, Rabaddon's, Sorc, RoA, Banshee's).
