History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.

By deleting a thread that you create you're also removing all the comments that other people made. You're no longer changing your own work but other's as well and I don't think it's the right thing to do.
Instead of deletion maybe closing the thread would be more appropriate. But still, you brought on the topic, the debate should only end when there's nothing else to discuss.

You need to log in before commenting.
Seems fairly obvious. Sometimes you make a mistake when typing. Sometimes you want to change the thread title, or maybe the topic of the thread has changed and you want to change the title to reflect that.
Also, mods should be able to change the names of thread titles as well. This mostly relates to stickies and their relevance.
