Spending money towards server uptime only makes them lose money because they don't gain anything other than more players playing (they don't have to pay). Think of it from a business perspective: Pay workers, make profit, spend some to keep servers up.

Even from a business perspective, you can clearly see many..many people complain about the quality of LoL.... If LoL wants to stand a chance against competitors such as HoN or even the up ccming Dota 2, they better do something about the servers.

It's not ****ing easy to keep a server like this up. They HAVE invested, ARE investing, and WILL invest more on server stability. It's not just, "O lol teh serverz down les just take sum moneys and fix it brah" or something. Hell, the recent server problem wasn't even really money-related. Tryndamere on the main forum detailed what had happened, and If I recall correctly, there was no quick fix other than hiring a team of experts to do fancy **** on their server >_>
(They're now hiring people who can work servers better than they can)

Like you've already said: It's a donation. You're not being forced to pay for the game but they're making money purely off the players' decisions to donate.
yeah but they should put more effort into using that money to improve the servers... more uptime = happy people
