I'm not here to rage about my guide getting rated down. (it's happened before and will possibly happen again in the future)

I'm here to point out some facts that might get a possible ban and clean up Mobafire some (if I read this correctly anyway)

I'm just pointing out that it seems a very strange coincidence that the guy that voted mine down had a comment of "mm". I looked to see his recent activity, he was fairly new, had his own build for the same champion, and also down rated another build of the same champion with reason "hg" and also just joined Mobafire that very same day. Seems kinds suspicious if you ask me.

Sound kinda like... sabotage?

The guy's profile name is "piratenpyroo"; check here if you don't believe me.

This is why you shouldn't be able to vote on others' guides when you got one yourself for that champion.
I'm a strong independent black mage who don't need no mana.

I agree, but people would still just make another account or something to bypass that.

And very difficult to prove. Why force the admins to conduct hundreds of IP checks and ban hundreds of people?

LOL
I don't think you should have publicly acknowledged that it's difficult to prove multiple accounts..

The first thing that came to mind is that if multiple accounts is hard to prove then if we use proxies it's practically impossible.
I can downvote whoever I want without getting any revenge votes in return! People can even use dozens of accounts to vote as long as they stay low and don't make much fuzz about it.

Feel free to delete my post if you think it might cause problems.

The only way right now to make multiple accounts is to create an IP proxy to cheat the system, which can be found out by admins quite easily (if we suspect someone of doing it) and is bannable.

The more common method of "making alternate accounts" is to go to your local library, school, workplace, or anywhere with a different IP and create an account to vote all your guides up and occasionally vote other guides down. That's actually allowed because, tbh, we can't prove that it's not, say, your friend or your sibling who's doing the voting. So we let those slide. The only time we can remove a vote is if it's directly cheating the IP system by creating proxies, and I don't think we've banned anyone for that yet.

The problem with the system in question (not being able to vote on champs you have a guide for) is that it would encourage the second method listed above - creating another account from an IP close to yours in your library, etc. That just causes a whole lot of *****ing that the site would be better off without.

Ah, I misunderstood you then.
I guess it would be troublesome to disable voting on those champ's guides
