It seems like a viable idea to do as well if the person eavesdropping for the team isn't running their own stream which can show them cheating.
Any hardcore tournaments shouldn't involve a direct livestream from either team in my opinion because of this, It's both likely and unlikely that any game can have this happen. The Tournament hosting party should be running the stream to make it more even in that sense.

It's called ghosting. It doesn't work in tournament games for a few reasons:
1. Often in big tournies like the WCG, they play in specialized computers where you can't ghost because everyone's watching you, including judges and referees.
2. There's usually a slight lag from stream to game, sometimes as much as 1-2 minutes, making ghosting pointless because any info you get is outdated.
3. People at those high ELOs have a lot of respect for the game and have the most fun at tournaments, so winning a game by ghosting it would get rid of all the fun, which is the primary reason they even play in tournaments to begin with.
