Kog'Maw experienced some changes in the last patch, among them being that his Q now shreds magic resist in addition to armor, his R now has an additional 0.5 AD scaling, the range on his Q was increased, and the cooldown on W was buffed.


I feel like now it's viable to build him hybrid, although not straight AD. I'm thinking about fiddling with a build that involves Black Cleaver - making him very hard to itemize against.

The thing I'm lost on is early game items, late-game items, and skilling order. I assume you max Void Ooze first but I don't know whether skilling evenly is worth it now based on his Q buff.

In addition, I've been thinking about Nashor's Tooth and am still skeptical on its usefulness.

I was thinking playing him like old AP kog, but instead of ap items just go hextechgunblades.

Maybe abit like my old sivir build.

Getting tear or maybe manamune. 1-2 hextech. Some AS item. Hextechs.

This culd work very well mostly becouse of how easy it is to farm on kog, and AP kog is already a scary poke hero.

Maybe not viable but fun :D

So far I'm still thinking Madreds / Malady is core. I often build him with Frozen Mallet too for the health / slow. The great thing now is that his ult also scales off AD so Madreds / Mallet actually help his ult now! Which would be great for those fleeing champs.

I think itemizing flat magic pen (sorc shoes / malady / runes) will work even better now with his new Q than void staff since he can get a lot of flat magic pen easily.

I am still experimenting, but the thing is even though AD is better now magic pen / ability power is still better because of the new Q and the fact that his main damage is from W + Madred's.

All of this post is assuming attackspeed kog rather than straight AP, just making sure ppl don't argue that point.

@ Potatis Gunblades could work for AP kog, sadly spell vamp isn't too hot on attackspeed kog though because spell vamp doesn't apply to his W and Madreds :( Even though I like the idea of it applying!

Just saw hsgg, he built 2pd and IE on him, the damage was pretty outrageous.

If you build him more hybrid I've been finding rageblade works out rather well, along with hextech.

Though the last few games I've played with him have all been rather fast... I usually don't even get a chance to start on my 5th item even... sorc boots, madred's, rageblade, Archangel's/Manamune... game end.

Tbh, with the reduced cooldown on W... 2PD, and IE along with boots, madred's and either Mallet or Raduin's might be pretty darn scary.

Though if you wanted to consolidate items... PD, IE, berserkers/sorc boots, madreds, trinity,and raduins might be a nice bit of defense along with offensive abilities, along with a little cooldown reduction to boot. Though it definitely leaves you lacking in the MR and Mana department.

i heard spell vamp doesnt affect bio arcane barrage.... lifesteal does neither isnt BAB affected by anything? oO should be fixed

problem with this could be mana.
you would be able to do more dmg with your ult and q,e, even w is affected by ap.

but bloodrazor,malady is just soo good on him. think it will still work better
the buff on q is nice though, the ad buff on r quite strange

I used to always get Sorc shoes on him, but now that Q lowers magic resistance it would probably better to go zerker greaves on him.
