I checked out this build and used it in 3 games. Did not do well..

Galio is a tank, weather you like it or not, my friend. Tank ult, tank passive, utility in every one of his abilities that help the team. Not help you get kills. My average game with Galio is 10-0-20. Can vary though, of course. 11-1-25 was my last game. Few games ago I was running 13-1-26. All using my personal build, which I have a guide for freshly posted on this site.

I don't like this build but of course won't downvote it. Everyone builds slightly different, amirite!? Keep on keepin' on fellow Galio.

This build was put together so long ago. I'll probably go in and make some changes just to update it to be current. I agree about the masteries 5L1V3R, i've made that change and played with the Spell pen for many months now with all of my AP builds.

@Frightfuljester: Galio makes a great tank, there is no doubt about it. If I take Galio in ranked play, I build him as a Tank / AP hybrid. I think you're missing the point though. If you actually look at the items I reccomend (Merc Treads - obviously before the Tenacity change, Banshee's Veil, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Randuin's Omen, Guardian Angel, Aegis), these are all tank items. I just don't think he makes a good hard tank. If you're in a ranked game, you're going to want a Rammus or a Malphite or a Shen. Relying on Galio to fill that role cripples his own ability to be an effective support, and it basically leaves you at a disadvantage to a team that has a good hard tank.

If you build with some AP in mind in addition to the tanky items that help him survive while landing his ult, he has a lot of killing power. I dont think he makes as good a hard tank as he makes an off-tank / support.

@Pajarraco: The Abyssal Scepter helps some with that, but you're right, Magic Pen is great and I would reccomend anyone making whatever changes they felt were neccessary to fit it into the build if they were running into a great deal of magic resistance.

I'm not saying Galio should be turned into an AP monster, I'm suggesting a build where you lean towards AP while remaining beefy, as in my opinion he doesn't qualify as your best option in the tank category.

if u dont want to be a tank... why you dont have magic penetration?

Ok i am going to be brutally honest with you bro, I'm tired of people taking characters that are made to be tanks and turning them into some Ezreal wanna be. I main Cho' Gath and i laugh every time i see someone set up for "AP" Cho' Gath. Yeah hows that gonna work out for ya? Yes Cho has crazy AP scaling don't get me wrong but this should be used to supplement his role as a tank. The same goes for Galio's epic passive. It really gives you incentive to build as a tank. But it isn't just your build that makes you a tank, that's another HUGE misconception people have about tanks on LoL which is understandable. Being a tank in LoL requires 2 things. A lot of survivability and some type of disruptions. Galio has his smite that slows, a shield that adds tons of armor, and a movement speed increasing skill shot. These are great items, add into the mix an ult that's basically Ammumu's but with a **** ton of damage and you have an unbelievable TANK. If you build for kills, and you focus on kills you waste all of this. You can't help an ally run faster when your throwing down your gust towards the Yi chasing his *** down. Get what i'm saying? You don't see tank annie builds even though she has a thornmail spell. The same should work for tanks. So what it boils down to is if you want kills only, if thats all you care about then don't play Galio. I'm not trying to hate, just help. The concept of this and every AP tank build is flawed and foolish.

I gave this build a whirl - I don't consider myself a pro player, but this build relies a little too much on being surrounded by your team. In ranked - I just got slaughtered...
This galio even with BV & GA just goes down way too quickly IMO.

Probably works well in normal games, but all that AP instead of defensive stats really makes it difficult late game to survive in team fights.

i completely agree with your veiw on galio not as a tank but still with my build i often find myself being the tank of the group so i have to build him acordingly (lan friends don't like playing tanks) but im ok still giving my life for 3 of their lives and making sure LeBlanc keeps her souls (meja's soulstealer).

I like your reasoning about tanks. And even though i was doing perfectly fine with another build, i gave your build a try.
Played 2 games with this build:
game#1 0/0/6 Victory
game#2 1/5/5 Victory

This was my first time EVER that i was NEGATIVE (kill:death) with Galio. (btw my previous 4 games were all victories using the tank build: 5/1/5, 7/7/20, 8/5/19, 2/2/26. So you can say i was experienced and given a good build i should have done BETTER or at least got some kills...)

I SUGGEST using 9 points in OFFENSE Masteries (archaic knowledge - 15% magic penetration) and get Magic penetration Quints at least, and try it again, because he lacked ALOT of damage. But i still give you +1, because your guide is very SMART, just needs some fine tuning to get some damage dealt early game. cash flow ftw! ;)

My friend plays a very mean Galio, but builds him considerably different than you do. It's nice to see that there are other people who play this game that are cordial and actually use their heads. Thanks for the insight on Galio, and I can wait to show this to him.
