My boyfriend likes laning with Udyr better than jungling with him, and he is one of the best Udyr players I've ever seen (he has over 1000 wins, so I would suspect he knows his ****).
What he builds: Long Sword + Health pot > Phage > boots > Ghostblade > Trinity Force > Warmog's > Atma's > Madred's
Masteries: 0-22-8
Runes: ArPen Marks, Dodge Seals, Attack Speed Glyphs, and ArPen or Dodge Quints

Good items, but those masteries and runes are far from good.
He must be low elo to make those work..
If you lane Udyr you'll NEED a boost to your mobility to handle laning at all. So 0/9/21 masteries seem like the best choice. Along with (MAYBE) MS quints, armor seals, MR glyphs and ArP marks.

Ian is one of those "Do amazingly well one game, could do terribly the next types". Although I've only seen him do badly with Udyr when he got 3 man ganked at blue (during one of the rare times he jungled).

Warwick is a jack-of-all-trades jungler.
He does very well in all aspects (ganking, sustained jungling, counter-jungling, etc..), but falls short of being #1 in any of them.
Udyr is a high-potential jungler.
How you build him pivotally affects him. And he can't excel at everything, so you're stuck with how you prepped.
The true top jungler is Nunu.
Trundle is a close second in my opinion.
