Hey guys, this review of Leona gives a pretty good summarization of her abilities. You can really tell he spent time with this Champ.

She's a true tank?

If anything, she's just a tanky babysitter. Never had a problem with her being tanky lategame though..

How many hours/days/years are required for you to fully understand a champ? If you can't give me a decent answer and explain why that much time is a good idea then their is no reason why someone who's has played them constantly for an entire day can't make a good guide? Certain mechanics translate from champ to champ. Half of what I understand on here I learned first from playing WoW and that translated real well.

And if you're questioning his experience, feel free to ask him since no one is stopping you.

On a side note theBMB, I love your sig. Gurren Lagann was awesome.

You need at least 50 games with a champion in order to know how to play him/her. At least from scratch. You CANNOT play a champion for one day or even one week and KNOW that you're playing him/her correctly.

When LeBlanc came out, I dominated with her. I would carry every game. And I went Sapphire into Catalyst into Tear into RoA/Archangel's.

My guide happens to get rated to #1 on this site but I archived it about 2 months ago because it was ****. I wrote that guide the DAY she came out. I won with her because of personal skill (not to toot my own horn), NOT because of the item build.

Now, after months, people have found out the CORRECT way to build her - a very simple AP and CDR build designed for early game dominance.

This holds true with almost every champion ever released. People didn't know how to build the champ until a good 2 months in. Irelia? Check. Brand? Check. Yorick? Check. Cassiopeia? Check.

You need practice. If you can tell yourself that you're positive that you're building a champion the correct way after just ONE DAY of playing with her, either you've been lying to yourself or you've been playing non-stop for 24 hours. In order to determine what's really effective, you need DOZENS of games experimenting with different builds to show what truly works and what doesn't.

You can't figure out the nuances of a champion' skill use in a day. Nor can you figure out what items are amazing and what isn't - although I do concede that many mechanics translate from archetype to archetype - many tanks can be built similarly, so in this instance, the author isn't can't really go wrong with HoG/Philo into Banshee's/Mercs/Sunfire Cape. Cookie-cutter build, okay.

Does it mean he's figured out the correct way to play her?

Not a chance in hell.

Greetings all,

I'm the writer who wrote that review and got pinged about some comments here in response to it, so I wanted to go ahead and register so I’m more readily available in case people want to get in touch with me. There’s a few things I should clear up.

Most importantly, I think it’s best that I clarify what the purpose behind champion reviews are. Although I have game review writing experience, this is a new review concept designed to take an overall look at new champions released in League of Legends. Its current focus is giving an overall look at how the champion functions, difficulty to use skill combinations, suggestion for how they can potentially be built (in this case a pure tank), taking a look at their backstory (because that’s still part of the experience), and offering some easier-to-understand tips on what I noticed worked.

As noted at the bottom of the article, there’s always multiple approaches to using a champion, but not all are as efficient as others. After taking a close look at how she functions and spending some hands-on time both using and playing against Leona, I personally enjoyed playing her as a full tank. Is that going to be the best way? Maybe not, but it’s a plausible approach due to her Jarvan-esque initiation immobilize and low cooldown stun, along with the tankiness from her shield and third form of potential stun or slow with the ultimate. That’s a lot of cc, which is exactly what tanks need.

However, since this is an entirely new review concept, I’m always open to feedback on any changes or additions the community feels I should make to this review. As mentioned, this isn’t designed to be an in-depth guide on how to play or build her, but a look her overall champion concept. If I want to write a full out guide, I would be posting that on this site instead. And finally yes, you can’t find the most efficient way to use a champion through only playing with and against them a handful of times. If needed, I can add additional emphasis in future reviews that make it clearer that this is a review and not a full guide to playing the champ. Since stats are always being adjusted over time, the only way to write a viable review is to focus more on broader functions, which is what I attempted to do with the review.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Feel free to post or drop me a PM if you have any suggestions/feedback on this or future champion reviews.
