For Magic
Magic Penetration, you may consider not going over 10 magic penetration since most hero's have 30 resistance and you will have 30 penetration with sorcerer's shoes, getting more than what reduces a typical champion to 0 will be wasted.

Magic Penetration definitely.
Seals
Flat Armor, Scaling Ability Power, Mana Regeneration.
Glyphs
Scaling ability power, flat cooldown reduction, magic resistance, or enough magic penetration to reach 10 with the marks.
If you get cooldown reduction glyphs(6% cdr) you can have 15% cdr with 9-0-21 masteries. If you get a 15% cdr item, you only have to buy
Elixir of Brilliance or get crest of the ancient golem to max 40% cdr.
Quintessence
Flat Health, Flat ability power, Scaling Mana Regeneration, one rune in magic penetration(1.8) to reach 10 with the marks if you didn't do so with glyphs, Movement Quints.
For Attack Damage
General idea is to max all the armor penetration you can get(if you run trynd or gangplank max all the crit you can get)-- everywhere else get attack speed is the general idea.

i just have 2 universal pages
pen reds (armor set and magic set), armor yellows, mr blues, health quints.
imo you should have 2 universal pages like this because then you can play any champion. not saying you can't have other pages but you should def start with these 2.
plus since they are the only ones i use i get to save my ip for champs. win-win situation for me

this seems like a pretty good generic build for AP champions, but I want your opinion. Also, what should I use for my AD runes?
