Ok, so I have a self-control problem when it comes to buying champions and instead of spending my IP on runes I buy champions (since I don't have money to buy RP). I use way too many champions to buy runes for them all and would rather spend my IP buying new champions since I love a variety. The next two champions I want to buy are Sona and Udyr. I almost never play support except when they're free, and Zilean and Soraka are probably the main two support I was decent with. I wanted to buy Sona to use as a good support and main her as my support champ and then I was reading Udyr guides earlier and I used him a long time ago when I first started playing when he was free and thouroughly enjoyed him. I don't play any jungles or support so these two champions really appealed to me as main champs to use in these two fields so I can play any role; tank, ad carry, ap carry, support, jungle, ect.
Now, my question is, if I were to buy Udyr and used full masteries would I need the full optimal runes to run a good jungle route? I think right now all I have are some Tier 2 and a few Tier 3 runes, Armor, ArP, MP, and I forget what quintessences I have. But ignoring the runes completely, is it possible?
I'm about to hit 3150 IP again and really considering buying Udyr, or maybe Sona, but leaning more towards Udyr.
Input?

BUY ARMOR SEALS. They're almost core on all junglers and most can't even jungle without them.
They're also very useful for a lot of champions outside the jungle.

Here's 2 good standard rune pages you can use:

ArP marks, Armor seals, MR/lvl glyphs, HP quints <--these on junglers ofc

MrP marks, Armor seals, MR/lvl glyphs, HP quints

Seconded.

~2k IP for a MUCH better jungle

Also, as Searz pointed out, you don't NEED fancy AS runes or whatever, you can just buy ArP reds and use them for any AD champion AND junglers!

Hmm. Yea I figured Armor seals would be good to buy, and would also go nicely for when I run tank (which I do with Rammus and Amumu quite often). ArP aswell.
But say I go ahead and buy Udyr tonight when I hit 3150 IP, then start buying Armor Seals and Tier 3 ArP. How difficult will it to be to jungle until I have full rune sets in at least these two categories? Knowing myself, if I don't buy Udyr tonight because I don't have the right runes, I'll probably impulse buy Sona. lol I'd be more motivated to buy the runes if I already had Udyr.

A few other questions:
Who is more benefical to a team, a support (Sona in this case) or a jungler (Udyr in this case). I know each plays different roles so it's hard to compare and choose one or the other, but any thoughts?

Since I play a lot of champions, what runes would be best to buy that would work decent on most champions? I figured Armor Seals, ArP, MP, Health Quints. And what exactly do lvl glyphs do? More exp I'm assuming?

How much of a difference do these runes make? I know early game they make quite a bit, but how big is the difference? Is it enough to really invest in a bunch of them? I think I already know the answer to this, but oh well. haha

Also, I play a lot of Champions that use AS in their builds (Kog'Maw, Teemo, ect.). Are AS runes worth buying?

See Searz's guide -

By the way, as far as jungling is concerned, it's a HUGE difference.

The penetration and bonus AD/AP for laning champions can be huge too.

Edit: No, imo
Not any flat ArP items for ranged carries, and AS runes are pretty much jungling only.

What do you mean not any flat ArP items for ranged carries? Do you mean runes? And why not?

ArP > AS

Not for a lot of junglers, take Nocturne and Udyr for example.

By Flat ArP items I mean things LIKE The Brutalizer, it gives a little bonus to your ArP but doesn't build into anything. Last Whisper gives ArP, but since it's % based, it moves about depending on your target, hence, it isn't flat! I don't know why there isn't any - but hey.

ArP runes give flat ArP though! ArP is pretty much the best stat for marks for physical carries.

@UltimateHavok
Haha, no :P
/lvl means that the stat is given one part each level. So 18HP at lvl18 would be 1HP per level.
MR = Magic Resist.

@Xen
TBC is a good carry item if you're playing someone without physical abilities.

On that day, the tavern descended into an era of chaos and darkness, until the weekend passed and everyone forgot all about it. Amen. Book of SMOrc, Verse 20, Chapter 4." - Feam T
