I'm using the Rammus Killer build. Now you can tell by my comments, I've had some success with him. However, later that night, I just started failing all over the place. My main problem with Rammus is that he's so squishy early game. So I try not to be but so aggressive (except for the very beginning. I love pushing the bushes and trying to get an easy, early kill.) However, I always end up being like two levels below everyone. Is it because I always try to gank people when I get my ultimate? You do have to wait around some for that.

A few of my problems was that people didn't call MIA. But I guess I could be more aware of the map, anyways. The main thing I love about Rammus is that he can pick off many characters quite easily, and then he's a god-like tank in late game. (2 Sunfire Capes and Thornmail is just plain deadly on him.)

So if anyone plays Rammus, please do leave some tips.

First i have to admit that i´m not very familiar with rammus. But i think in the early game you should concentrate on farming the minions = >EXP/>Gold. If you can get an easy kill, fine.

Yeah, that's what I try to do. I find it's best he go on a side lane with a ranged partner like Twisted Fate.

yeah, dont try to run off and sit in the bushes waiting to gank, if mid is crazy overextended, feel free to powerball in and eat them, but dont just sit in between lanes waiting, i see alot of people doing that
Blind Monk =/= Udyr. Please do not make that mistake; Blind Monk was made of pure awesome, from concentrate. - Guinsoo

Yeah. It's not a problem if you get right to it, but if you wait too long, you get WAY too far behind on levels. Don't get me wrong though, Rammus can do some awesome ganks if people listen when you say "let them push." XD

Same as the other comments, pick up a ranged lane partner, and don't go blood crazy from the get-go. I'm plenty happy to lock a squishy down and let my lane partner finish the job for an assist.

Also, something I try to do with any champ build I use, whether it be my own or one posted here, is to develop a contingency plan. I'm far from "pro," and there are just games when I have a rotten early game. I try to adjust my build to reflect this, and a contingency build can mean the difference between getting back in the game and being behind until you see the defeat screen. I've gone as far as to have 3 Heart of Gold on Rammus in these situations (I was also ridiculed up to the point that I finished my item build and had become tied with the highest level champ at level 17). The downside to something like this is that you have to sit on gold generating items for a good while to make a profit. I found a guide on how long each gold gen item had to be kept for profit, but don't remember where it was (was either here or leaguecraft).
