This is a great guide, similar to the way I use Ryze. But I think the RoA doesn't suit to Ryze 'cause it gives AP (okay, it gives mana and health) but i prefer to get BV and Frozen Heart before. After that, the RoA doesn't give all the mana and health as the game finish so I start to build either FoE, Thornmail or even Warmog if I want to troll a little xD. Thanks to those items you can tank a teamfight and place more than 3 combos before it ends.
RoA should be purchased because it gives a good amount of health, and the mana it gives when fully stacked outdoes every item except for tear/archangel (that's why it's purchased right after the tear, so it can stack up ASAP). Also, Ryze's spells will get a boost, which however small can make the difference if you take into account that he fires ~3 spells per second. Plus he'll be harder to kill :)
Im new to this game and checked out this guide it looks very nice going to try it :)
thank you for the nice guide :)

Thanks for the build! This game was actually really close believe or not. It dragged on to about an hour and their akali+shaco+ashe+alistar+lux is ALWAYS on my *** in team fights. But i came out on top playing smart.
I dominated Lux in mid lane and akali just doesn't have enough power to kill me 1v1.
And I also want to point out that this guide is a lot better than the top rated ryze guide on mobafire. You should ALWAYS start off with sapphire crystal and 2 hp pots, not meki pendant for mana regen. Why? Because your overload scales well with your max mana. If you're a decent player you should try your best to last hit with auto attack and harass with Overload, I never ran out of mana in that mid lane and killed lux 3 times.
By having that sapphire crystal it's the difference between that last overload/autoattack/ignite tick killing them or not. It just gives you an extra oomph and they will certainly feel it when they eat your Overload(more so if they're not using MR blues runes, level 1 overload hits like a truck)
Anyways tl;dr I know, but thanks I love ryze and I just want to mention that this guide is the correct way of building ryze. Sapphire crystal start and rush RoA, then Bveil, frozen heart and so on.
EDIT: forgot to mention you should get tears of the goddess before RoA to start building that extra mana :)
glad you liked the guide, I also have a Dominion guide which isn't rated as highly as it should be with a much different build because of the different game-type, check that out as well if you'd like :D Ryze is sick in Dominion, so sick that after i went 20/3/15 in a match, the next match one of the players that were on the other team the match before banned Ryze Yes I know, banned him, first and only time I've ever seen that, I think he was worried I was in the same room again lmfao.

I'm wondering what you buy or how you react towards a 'Twitch' as enemy, frankly said to me its been the arch-nemesis, if not a beginner plays him?
with twitch u just need the vision ward so that you see him when he tries to sneak up on you, there's a consumable one that lasts until you die.
Also added the icons for the items and stuff now that I found out how to do it.
Would be nice if the guide was longer and more in-depth for people. Short and sweet is nice to an extent, but having more details is sometimes more effective to read up on and then practice later.
I haven't bought Ryze, but I'm looking forward to it. Currently I'm maining Annie so I want to see how the two stack up against each other.
Yeah I'm still new to the game (Level 26 now) I will be adding to the guide when I have the time available to do it, with 3 kids and a 50 hour work week it can be difficult lol.
In response to the difference between and , I have never played with , but two of my main teamates use her a lot and of course I lane up with her in mid a lot as well. is stronger early level, but once hits level 8 or 9 he starts to pass her up overall. Using generalizations does more damage per spell than which is why she's stronger early game, but does more with his full combo bursts than she can do in a combo and is much much more squishy especially when using my Ryze build.
