GP mid used to be amazing because of his deny.
HE's a nice bottom because he farms well if he needs to and his buff can easily make him like a support.

Most of users recomend AP Carries as mids = Brand, Morgana, Anivia..
I've never played a solo-mid character but I think your role will be to farm as many as possible, push down the enemy and its tower, warding to not be ganked and assist other lanes if needed (but I suppose there's a Jungler for that).
But what about picking a "surprise" hero for goin' mid?
