They didn't change THAT much, the playstyles and skillings remain roughly the same, but there is room for a lot of versatility now.

El Psy Congroo.

So I spent a good long time last night theory crafting with Crazieshado in regards to the new masteries set. We basically came to the conclusion that there's a lot more you can do with these new masteries, and that, except for specific champions like Ryze, who relied heavily on specific masteries such as Strength of Spirit, these new masteries are going to give a much more interesting and sensible spin to the game.
I personally really like the new masteries. I'm a little sad about the potential destruction of flash, but at the same time, I think we'll be seeing some very interesting gank-avoidance tactics coming up. aka a lot more escape, slow, and snare based champions in lane, and a lot more soft CC or no CC junglers like shyvana, master yi, and to some degree, udyr, providing a good bit more success.
I definitely see Ghost being a popular choice, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if a lot of people start taking Promote on champions like Ryze who have a harder time pushing towers on their own.
