Hey guys,
I've been playing LoL for a fair while now, but I seemingly struggle with playing assassins. Not sure why, but I just do early game.

I'm used to playing tanky champs such as Malphite and Maokai, but would like to vary the range of champions I play. I bought Katarina and Xin Zhao, but struggle to get last hits as I either get zoned out or play too aggressive and get killed multiple times. This leaves me struggling late game to make any impact at all, leaving me completely hopeless.

I'm guessing it is just the way I'm used to playing, where(playing Malph/Maokai) I can farm well and harass, eventually getting some good early game kills for the carries and myself. However, with assassins, I seemingly get zoned a fair bit and just overextend when trying to get them.

So I'm looking for tips. How do I ensure getting last hits whilst not getting hurt too much early game? Is it a matter of playing more aggressive, so that when enemies overextend I burst them done or is there a zone in which I can play where I get last hits and not get hurt too much (if that makes sense).

If anyone has general tips for me, that would be great. If anyone has a guide, that would be even better but I'm seemingly too squishy early game and when I do farm up I get hurt... alot.

Thanks in advance.

Go with a tanky champ and let them harass and pick up the kill scaring them and allowing you to farm

He didn't ask for advice on who to duo lane with :/

@Osl112

I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same troubles when I was new to those types of champs. Basically, you just need to learn your new champion's role, as obviously Kat's not going to require the same playstyle/mindset as Maokai. Play more games, find what works for you, and what doesn't.

But, my advice (and what works for me) is POKE. All the time. Whenever you can. Harass constantly. Keep them on their toes. Make them fear you. That way, when you DO go in to last hit, they'll most likely back off, afraid to get smacked by you again.

Also, don't play too ballsy 'till you have a better understanding of what your champion is, and is not capable of early game. All of this will become a lot easier with practice.

If you're level 30 then read guides and get the right runes. Next you need to really practice last hitting. If the enemy is one that can just take off a lot of health thru their harassment then you'll have to stay in the back and such exp. It sucks but it's better than feeding. Wait your time and ask for help ganking. Don't lane alone with Katarina if you're having trouble. But what u can do is just last hit with her abilities instead of auto attack. Same with Xin Zhao.
