Your CD downtimes should be pretty rough in a game with a faster pace than SR.
You'll end up autohitting anyway, giving AD the advantage.
And its the same with his Heal: Health Packs are scattered everywhere and backporting is mandatory.

AD is much better.Yi's carry in summoners rift comes in around mid/late game depending on the early game.Since dominion goes 3x faster,His AD carry kicks in extremely fast and goes to almost an OP extent.I've seen a non-fed Yi defeat me playing my jax build 1v1,and I was fed.(Of course maybe it was my unlucky-ness,but he's too strong to not go AD)

AD Yi too strong. Learn how to control your ult, penta penta penta. On dominion you can take bottom lane and focus on pushing minions, thus gaining gold insanely fast. Get your core build before everyone else, go top = Win game.

AD Yi is better, like all the above comments say. It utilises all the skills, instead of AP Yi just relying on Alpha strike, CD, Alpha strike etc. Its a tad unreliable.
In the case of AP Sion to AD Sion, thats different. AP Sion has a much better and more reliable damage source compared to AP Yi, with actually a CC to help him with detonating his shield. Its much better compared to AP Yi

The shield etc is great but your dmg output relies on 1 spell. That stun is just sec like Yi's heal.
Its great to play AP solo bot with some time to farm creeps.
Otherwise the miss of HP farming is killing you literally, clever/decent enemies will foc your shield down and leave you like that if you waste money to stack too much tankiness without enough AP, but if you stack too much dmg you'll be just the thing that goes down down down + you cant fight back surprise skirmishes at mid.
Its not that bad, still useful but you'll be at a disadvantage at Domi's quick pace.
