Hey everyone!

(been reading the forums for a while, but this is my first actual post. be nice please :o)

Sometimes when ppl counterjungle, they only kill the main blue/red buff and leave the small creeps. Is there some reason for doing this, or is it more like a "get-in-get-out-quick" thing?

Thx!

If you only kill the big creep then the enemy jungler loses the majority of the bonus from that creep camp and they will not respawn until all of the creeps are killed. If you kill all of the creeps, you get slightly more experience, but it does less to mess up the enemy jungler.

Doing so also prevents them from respawning, meaning that if no one clears that camp it's gonna stay with 1 creep.
With the junle rework also the big creeps grow over time, so leaving them unable to respawn takes times off bank system thus reducing the overall gain

If you are a good player, you kill the whole Blue/Red camp to know when it respawns to steal it again/know when the enemy jungler might be there, this gives you a huge advantage in counterjungling. It respawns after 5 minutes.

That depends, a good jungler needs to always weight the pros and the cons of leaving or not leaving the creep.
Naming it all is a lot of work so I'll just say there are times you want the update on enemy jungle and there are time you want to slow their respawn.

General rule of thumb is get all the creeps if you have control over the enemy's jungle, e.g. higher level than enemy jungler, stronger champ in that time of the game, etc.

Also good to kill the creeps if you plan on putting a ward there. Then you can either know when the enemy is getting it so you can steal the buff or when it's up to retake.
