Um, no. Not really. In my opinion, top-rated guides aren't just the top one, but the top three. When I need an introduction to a new champion, I always read the top three guides (if they're all comprehensive and in-depth, if not, I'll go to the next one even though if the 4th ranked guide is like 65%, IDGAF). People should always read all top three (or top five) guides before choosing the one they think suit them most.
So, conclusion is, top-rated guides aren't mostly garbage, but just suited to more people. And mind you that most people who read guides are introductory players who need input and help in that specific champion. Therefore, the guide gets lots of up-votes due to the fact that it works in normals (most MOBAfire visitors aren't 30, they view champions to get a feeling of how to play it).

you shouldnt trust their build or gameplay. though you should trust their advice ( like that guide about warding. i'd plus 1 that but that'd be against my 'no voting policy')
you should also consider parts of their build. such as building atmogs+warmog or atmogs+frozen mallet, or frozen mallet+warmogs, etc. also it should give an idea and an ok start for new players who knows nothing about the game
p.s. someone should make a guide about masteries =/ i still have trouble choosing which type i should get for a few more champs.

i believe that searz made a guide for masteries like 2 weeks before they changed everything. he'll probably make a new one
