Agree. Lot's of good guides have been set aside because of the system, and how other guide makers can jeopardise any other guide easily. And they do.

Thanks to Koksei, The_Nameless_Bard,JhoiJhoi, LaCorpse, JEFFY40HANDS and myself for the signatures! I am also a certified gangster.
Yup. A good example would be Chandro's guide. Wall of text, doesn't look nice, so people won't vote it up. But if you read it carefully (the wall of text), it does give you an introduction of how to play Corki and the items are correct.

That was actually the first thing that came to my mind, too. A bunch of *****ing about formatting in the comment section for a guide that takes 5 minutes to read anyways. If anyone were actually serious about learning to play Corki they wouldn't be skimming for pretty art anyways, they'd be hanging on every word from a pro player with tournament experience.

Yeahp. Ironic, we had CLG players writing guides and interacting with MobaFire for about a week and then they couldn't handle the negativity in the reception they got and they just left. People even criticized them rather harshly on the quality of the guides they wrote, instead of taking what they got with a smile. (Runes, masteries and build layout proven effective at the highest possible levels of play.)
Chandro comes along and offers us his Corki, the same Corki he's used in tournaments and etc, and it's not yet well recognized, even though he was a solid 1900 in Season 1 and his Elo is still strong in Season 2. I don't think a more experienced Corki player exists here in MobaFire.
And Z3rg3m3n's Tryndamere will be my final example. Rated UNDER 80%, and the guide is only 3rd on the site, yet he too is a platinum level player.
The irony is, I don't even think Z3rg3m3n's build is optimal, but it is proven effective at a top level of play. So it doesn't matter if it's not what I would do, it does work.
The problem is that you have lots of members who flow through, most of them probably not even level 30, who vote on these guides once or twice, maybe lurk in the forums silently, maybe come and go whenever they need a build, etc. Barely active, non-aware players who are not a "Part" or the Moba community either, just using MobaFire for builds (Which is fine, nothing wrong with that.)
Many of these members will downvote a guide like z3rg3's, because they, (A pre level 30 experience lacking player who probably barely has a single rune page completed and can't even go all the way down a mastery tree. A player who in 250 games assumes they understand how to play League, when the reality is at 600 WINS [AKA more than 1,000 games] you will just cracking the tip of the iceburg that is League.) assume their opinion is valid.
And, realistically it is. I don't believe it is clearly defined what these guides are supposed to be. And that's fine, but because of this, the one thing that the top rated guides will not necessarily be, are the best guides, unfortunately :P
It bothered me when I began here, but I'm comfortable with it now. *Shrug* It is what it is, nobody is going to die because the top rated guide isn't the best one we have to offer.

Finally someone mentions Z3rg3m3n I'm a Z3rgfan
To the original poster you'd be surprised how many league of legends players are above 2k. It's not a lot. However that doesn't mean that you can't get something from a guide written by a player who doesn't roam that bracket.
It's all knowledge written for your approval or disapproval and you can take what you will from the pages. Sure it sucks that guides get inflated stats but even if it sucks or if it's outdated it might have some useful information in there.
There are good players that don't grind to high elo. I should know I smash though them in my normal games /flex.

Well if you watch carefully most high voted guides are from around 300 Normal Win Players.
So they just got lvl 30 a while ago. (When I'm not wrong, one is lvl 30 at about 120-140 Wins?)
These ppl are new to the league, every champ is charming to them. So they play them so long until they find a solution to 80% own with them in any games.
I remember when I was new, and when I bought a new champ it was like in a dreamworld (haha xD).
Now after 1,4k Normal Game Wins (and 1,2k Loses) And 1,5k Elo (Which I trolled down to 900, who can beat this?). I see champions from another perspective and can judge them all somehow.
(Well, my builds are more fun builds, and for example my Teemo build is a ''300 Win Normal Game Guy Guide '' xD)
You can learn best from lifestreams, like I do in Sc2. <- I still suck hard, but I am in Gold League xDD.

I've just come to accept that MobaFire will never have the best guides at the top, and instead will have the most popular and the best looking guides at the top.
Not gonna change any time soon, probably never will.
True story my friend.
