Not you in particular, I mean generally speaking. If we just said: "I agree with you, well spoken" and just press + rep we'd never get "I give you +rep for you gave me. " That way reps are devalued, I really hope I got mine from expressing something worthwhile or helping someone.
If I find someone deserving +rep, which I do quite often, I press the button. Expressing it on an open forum is like asking for gratitude. Imho. I'm pretty sure most won't agree but if you (people in general) don't want anything for repping, then you never need to say that you were the one repping.

I generally +rep people who put alot of effort into giving great detailed answers to questions, or for saying something that actually makes me laugh out loud. My theory is, if it makes my wife look at me funny, it deserves a +rep. And i do honestly care icecreamy, thats why i mentor people. I dont say, +rep me if you want mentorship, i just offer it to those who need it. Suppose im doing what i should be... im just an impatient brat i suppose >,<

I would rather gain my status from having +rep then being noticed. Some of you may think that's weird but consider this: +rep is from the community, status is from the leaders (mods/admins etc.). I would rather have the community accepting me then the leaders.

Btw I dislike giving reps for someone giving you reps. I don't even understand why you should ever say you gave someone rep?
