Karthus can literally carry the game. It doesn't matter if you die, as long as the fight is in your Defile. Wait a good 4 seconds in Death Defied then cast your ultimate and win the fight. He's really good at killing, not the best in the laning phase. I mean, ANYONE can beat him in the lane. Overall, he's definitely worth getting.

Not really. I mean yes, he can't really crush anyone in lane and he's fairly vulnerable to dying, but he also has long range wave clearing and scales incredibly well. It's usually possible to just stand back and use Q to farm from a safe distance in the majority of matchups even if you can't beat them in a straight fight.

Just gonna point out that Soraka's Wish heals for a lot less than Karthus' Requiem damages, especially when he's building AP and she isn't. She counters him somewhat when it comes to picking up free kills in other lanes, but not so much when Karthus has a ton of AP and teamfights start.
AP Soraka would be quite interesting though.
