I said its not effective, didn't say it doesn't work.
Sure,

My point being, you need to be really patient in poking, and strike like lightning when you realized one of the enemies are careless. Timing needs to be precise, and many mediocre players fail to do accomplish that.

My statement is bias, perhaps. In SEA, so long as everyone in a group, they'd rush in to clash. The mentality there is, my friends are with me, if I die, we all die. That's all. Players who end up poking usually run out of patience and one would indefinitely initiate teamfights. Depending on the positioning and skills, a team fight could go horribly wrong and extremely right.
Most of the time, it ends up wrong.
The art of poking just isn't useful from where I come from.
But ambushing and cornering is.

SEA is all about killing.
You will almost always find a team that plays entirely squishies or tanky dps.
The worst kind of situation is when 3 people have locked in and state their roles and insisted on tanks, the last 2 members will just keep quiet and select 2 more squishies.
That's how every game started falling for me.
Back to Mundo,
I've seen some really good ones, good Mundos are the kind that lands his skillshot well, and turn the tide of his own battle just by activating R and pawning AD carries in a 1v1 situation.
Bad Mundos are Mundos who secretly use their R to kill and let the carries do all the hardwork before they walk in to clean up the mess.
I get your point since he doesn't really have the gamebreaking CC that Mumu and Malphite have. Hes just a big sponge with a huge cleaver.
But... Dat cleaver.
Can't argue with that logic.

He does have a CC, I think. Correct me if I am wrong.
But his CC is just really meant to keep himself sustained while it does AoE damage.
I like how you described

In other words, Mundo's just really potent at taking hits and dealing some impressive damage of his own.
But Mundos naturally can't protect his squishy teammates unless the enemy team is stupid enough to focus on him.
@Animorte
The cleaver hits pretty hard Q_Q.

His only CC is his cleaver and it can only hit 1 target, so he doesn't really have the ability to CC the enitre team like Mumu. So yeah, he can just hit and be hit. It all depends on how you define a tank.
On a sidenote: I have probably failed 90% of my cleavers when trying to gank.

What!? Can't fail those cleavers, mate.

I lol-ed at this.
Quite true though, Mundo players have to get their Qs right, its Mundo's bread and butter.
If you can't hurl your blades well, Mundo is essentially just a walking sponge with no strong damage.

You need to log in before commenting.
Most tanky characters are either bruisers or supporty. When I play Malphite I go with Shurelyas and Aegis for instance.
I think we forgot about Mundo, stacking warmogs and ****.

@Animorte
Agree on how LoL is much more team based compared to HoN or Dota.
Btw, speaking about your
@Sanara
I need to disagree on your point that the team just needs a person who'd be brave enough to engage. Imagine having a team that contains a tanky dps vs a team that contains a tank.
The outcome is that tanks most likely have the upperhand.
The tanky dps can still damage him and fail to protect the squishies because the tank has got the tanky dps busy while the others move in to decimate the squishies.
Sure, by late game, any tanks will get melt down.
Tanks are designed to protect the team and die for them while wearing down the enemy carries' hp to a certain extent.
This is when the squishies go in to do their job.
I thought this has always been a well-known fact ?
