The thing about people who blindly follow the meta is that sometimes they have no idea they are being countered. Per example, picking Nunu to go versus Riven top sounds silly billy, but when Riven starts fumbling because she can't farm nor kill, you will be seen like less of a troll.
Heck, even the Kayle top thing started out as people saying you're a troll for taking her there and "OMG REPORT THIS KAYLE NOOB". Now people know she is a beast and requires respect.

this is a very good point, i have a friend who can really beast it up with kayle top, and when we play together there is always someone who accuses him of trolling until he ends up winning the lane

but for all seriousness, I don't really think there is much to change since this is about the best it can get with these champions. Most of the meta is directly related to the champs Riot releases, and so far its going along with the current support ad bot/ap mid/tanky dps top/supportish-tanky jungler. Until the release something new (idk what) there really isn't anything that can be changed.
i dont really think so.
watch the last champions comming out.
there is a reason why they nerved soraka and made a support like lulu with just a ulti to heal.
when u compare u will see that most recent champions are more mobile, have more steroid spells and armor pen.
to me it seems riot wants to make the game less farming, more killing.
for the meta i see those changes.u have kill lanes and standard spells for support are flash/heal/exhaust now.
i for myself would love to see some changes.
i miss the old the days where you just push push push :)

I have a friend that frequently plays Nunu@top and wins his matchups most of the time, though people usually get scared because "it's not viable".
i actually had someone play blitz top against my riven. i'm a pretty decent riven as far as i am concerned, but i had a hella hard time killing him during the laning phase. i really thought that was an interesting pick. didnt end up working in the end for him thanks to a great roaming mid on my team. but i bet a good blitz could really throw off some solo-top champs

It has survived because it is flexible. It can adapt to minor changes without a complete overhaul.
For example, the meta is always two bot, but it can handle a pretty wide variety of combos down there. You've got the traditional AD + sustain support, the more fun AD Carry + kill lane support, the double kill lane bot (

That's a lot of possibilities for a "stale" meta.
I'll admit that mid offers much less variance, but really you can take almost anyone top. It might not be perfect, but that lane is almost wide open. And while jungling might currently favor gank-heavy characters, the fact that

I guess my point is, if you think the meta is boring and stale, try exploring the variety in it before writing it off completely.
Somewhat of what i was thinking. The reason i havent challenged the meta is that the community is very... harsh. You will get flamed all game if you are testing a "new metagame" in soloq. I believe only the role models of Lol can change the meta (Hotshotgg, Chaox, Dyrus,)because they have the most influence on the game atm.

that was an awesome post, very well put. thank you for contributing. i agree with what you say, i have just played some soloq lately where ppl have razzed me for decsisions that ik would still work. i suppose in a group of friends, playing to the edges of the possible variation is possible and works well.
but seriously i will take your advice and try new things that fit into the meta.
