Here Is something you can reference BUT the models mentioned here are last year
Just get the newer models if your going to use this build
Most of those products are now obsolete. So that video isn't very useful now.

Lol, if he gets that wrong I'll be amazed.
Google has a job title called "Head of Black Community Engagement"..
I don't know whether to cry or laugh.. or both.

$1600 is a pretty sizable budget, if you bump it up a bit more though and ditch the laptop you can get ridiculous hardware.
Why would you want a laptop in a few months if you are building a new gaming rig?
My recommendation: Spend a bit more on the desktop if you have the money ($2000-2500), and get a netbook ($200-400) if you need a little laptop to do docs on the go.
:O
I'll be on league tomorrow, we can talk then :D (well technically today)
Guess I could ditch the laptop. The hard part is showing the 2000+ price tag to my parents x___x
Thanks for your recommendation though, never thought of that.

also, would you be willing to spend some time researching and build your own computer? You can save some money and get some wicked stuff if you do, plus it's really fun.
Also are you sure the lag you experience isn't internet lag but computer fps lag?
I would spend ti e researching and stuff, but its kinda easier to just go online and customize/pick what I want and buy it xD
Also I have no idea how to build one, buuuuut dad probably going to make me if he knows since its a 'valuable learning experience.'
And the lag...iunno. I know its not fps lag because that computer runs at 60 fps all day erry day. I think its just the computer having connection issues.

You're gonna make him spend 2000$? That's overkill lol
He can builds some pretty good machine that he's gonna be proud off for 1600$ if he looks for the deals and stuff, I'm telling you.
800$ you get a decent gaming computer
1200$ you get a good gaming computer
1600$ you get a great gaming computer
2000$ you just wanted to spend money (most people won't even see a difference but I guess if you take a SSD it will go up in those price anyway)
2000 isn't thhaaaaaaaat overkill, 3000+ would be :P

no, there is a huge difference in quality if you spend a bit more, he said he can spend w/e anyway lol
where do you live if I may non-stalkerishly ask? :D
I can spend w/e but that doesn't mean I should go overboard :l
I live in San Francisco, where its 50°F with tons of fog everywhere in the summer Q_Q

As a gamer, he should have those already, if not shame on him
Well, I've been using laptops for everything since forever, so I have no peripherals o_o

SUP GAIS
TIME TO LAY DOWN THE LAW.
CPU: i5 3570k (i7 is a waste of money unless you're video editing/3D modelling/streaming a lot)
Graphics card: GTX 670, GTX660(not out yet) or HD 7950.
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 8 GB 1600MHz (or any other good brand). 8GB minimum. DO NOT GET ANY WITH HUGE HEATSINKS, they suck.
HDD: any 2TB disk should do it. Anything below 2TB will be lower value for your money. You could also skip this if you're good with 256GB space.
SSD: Samsung 256GB. Cuz freaking badass. (REMEMBER TO USE AHCI MODE)
Optical drive: Just get a USB drive. Internal optical drives aren't worth it unless you're using CDs/DVDs a lot.
Power supply: any 80+ gold (or better) PSU that seems good. It's a plus if it's modular, but those are more expensive.
Case: Fractal Design R4. I wish I had that case :3
Should be roughly 1300$ (quick estimation).
You could add a good CPU heatsink if you wanna overclock a little. Those go for roughly 60$.
Good mechanical keyboards go for roughly 80-150$. I'd recommend Qpad MK-50 and MK-85(one badass piece of hardware) simply because they come with good arm-supports (which is vital to me).
Good mice go for 35-75$. Logitech G400 is a very solid choice if you're unsure. It's real cheap and it's the best Palm Grip mouse I've tried (most people use Palm Grip).
+rep o_o
But I'm going to have to build this myself right?
Thanks for the specific stuff ^_^

I'm going to get it wrong :/ how do I check?
Well, I've been using laptops for everything since forever now, so I need peripherals o_o
Honestly, I'd say just buy a new one. I broke my old laptop because I was mad, just bought a new one :P With $1600 though, you could just build it ^^

Like I said that's considering you have the screen(s)/Keyboard/mouse already
A 2k computer would be overkill yeah.
I don't know anyone that would need 1 at this price, if someone does I want, the price of the said computer and the reason why he "needs" those parts.
Hell I'm working as a computer tech, I mount computer as a living / while studying xD

ty xaiolu for the sign :3

Just get the Corsair 8GB 1600MHz "low profile" RAM if you're unsure. (those WILL work)
I mentioned mouse and keyboard, get a good mouse pad (most gaming pads are good enough) to go with the mouse and try to find a good screen. Screens are changing way more than other hardware, so I don't bother keeping up with specific products there, but anything in 1080p with LED should do it.

MAKE SURE THE MEMORY IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE MOTHERBOARD
IF IT ISNT YOUR GOING TO BE BUMMED OUT BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE EITHER THE MEMORY OR MOTHERBOARD WITH SOMETHING THAT IS COMPATIBLE
